- It's not hard to pull your old sofa apart. If you turn it upside down and rip out the fabric underneath you will be able to see the bolts that hold the arms to the seat. Start with undoing the arms then get a hammer and start to pull the timber fame apart. You should be able to pull it apart enough to start to throw some of it away in your normal rubbish and the rest should be able to store it without being in the way still your city's bulk garbage day. I see that some people have said to give it to charity. They will not take your sofa if its not in good condition. I have tried to get rid of a sofa like that but because it had a small tear in it they wouldn't take it because know one will buy it.
