1.Description

Aluminium foil (or aluminum foil) is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mils) are also commonly used.In the United States, foils are commonly gauged in thousandths of an inch or mils. Standard household foil is typically 0.016 mm (0.63 mils) thick, and heavy duty household foil is typically 0.024 mm (0.94 mils). The foil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects. Thin foils are fragile and are sometimes laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplanted tin foil in the mid 20th century.

Annual production of aluminium foil was approximately 800,000 tonnes (880,000 tons) in Europe and 600,000 tonnes (660,000 tons) in the U.S. in 2003.Approximately 75% of aluminium foil is used for packaging of foods, cosmetics, and chemical products, and 25% used for industrial applications (e.g. thermal insulation, cables and electronics).

5.FAQ:

1)what is aluminum?

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q:I need to build a barge out of aluminum foil(30x30cm)& put weights in it w/o sinking, ideas on how to build it?
I might try making a rectangular or square shaped brick out of the foil, trapping air inside of itIf you can get it to seal good (roll the edges) it should be relatively flat and able to stack weights on it, kind of how a pontoon worksI use a similar method to trap food inside foil so that it holds in steam to cookI imagine that it should keep water out too.
Q:Why is Aluminium malleable?
okay wellfiber one bars are really yummy and obs fiber-y35% lolor daily value or w/e idkoatmealummi think spinich and brocoli are goodnuts are also good.
Q:What are some creative ways to create a constellation on paper?
Aluminum is not suited for saucepansIt makes terrible cookware Baseboard radiators are copper tubing surrounded by aluminum fins in a painted steel cover- chef
Q:Angle food cake pan same as a tube pan?? PLEASE HELP!!?
YES!! a tube pan is another name for an angel food cake pan! Also a Bundt pan is a tube pan! And the Magic Cake pan from Wilton is also a tube pan when the little tube is inserted in the center I have an antique tube pan that the bottom does not come outI have molds in copper and aluminum that can be used as tube pans I need a new angel food cake pan as mine got dropped and is bent so it does not hold the batter in it any more!
Q:What's the difference between a non-stick and hard anodized pans?
Non stick is any type of cookware that has an applied surface that keeps food from sticking during its preparationSome surfaces are better than others.Nonstick cookware is typically made from aluminum that has been coated with a fluoropolymer-based substanceNonstick cookware relies on coatings such as Teflon brand by DuPont to prevent food from stickingHard anodized is an actual process where the metal is treated in such a way that it has non stick properties, but isn't applied like most non-stick coatingsIt is preferable to nonstick typesAluminum cookware is a good conductor of heat, but its natural, oxidized surface can pit and rust over timeA chemical process called anodization gives aluminum and aluminum alloy cookware a hard inner layer with a durable, relatively nonstick surface.
Q:Does aluminum touching stainless steel corrode or no? I need u-bolts to bolt down a SS piece and they are stee
I always buy may wrapping paper at a dollar store!
Q:Dry chicken breast please help?
Most meats you need to bake at 350 degreesTime: between 40 - 50 minutes depending how thick the breast areCover the meat with foil paper and make 2 small holes so some of the steam gets outRemove foil last 15 minutesJust bake in the ovenIf you broil it will too dry.
Q:what is the nuclear charge of an aluminum atom?
Aluminum has atomic number 13The atomic number represents the number of protons in the nucleus of the atomWith 13 protons in its nucleus the nuclear charge is +13 Al also has 13 electrons surrounding the nucleus.
Q:What is an effective way to make Vaseline soaked cottons balls Wrapped in aluminum foil?
Cut your squares of foil, then melt your vasaline using a double boiler (A saucepan with 1 of water and a bowl sitting on it will suffice) dip the cotton balls until saturated, and set each on a square of foil, and wrap it upStore them in a ziplock bag along with a couple disposable Bic lightersMatches are not nearly as reliable as lighters as long as the lighters remain dryOf course wet matches aren't reliable eitherThe difference is, a lighter will dry out and work if you shake it to get the water out and blow on the striker wheel and keep trying it until it lightsThis won't work with wet matchesWaterproof matches are not as reliable as they are touted to beI've had whole, new, dry packages of them that wouldnt light worth a damnI'd aviod flint and steel and Magnesium firestarters as these are overpriced gimics in a day when you could simply flick your Bic insteadLeave the flint things to the caveman wanna-be's and use a lighter like Modern ManYour home made firestarters should work quite wellI don't know that they'll burn a full 30 minutes, but they'll certainly burn long enough to get a good fire going.
Q:how can i make chocolates for my gf?
Chocolate Covered Strawberries Ingredients: 1 dozen ripe strawberries 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Preparation: 1Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil2Wash the strawberries and dry them thoroughly3Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them until they melt, stirring every 45 secondsIt should take about 2 minutes4Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip it in chocolate, twirling it in a circular motion to evenly cover most of the berryAs you lift it from the chocolate, twirl it so that any excess chocolate drips back into the bowl5Place the berry on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with remaining berries and chocolate6Once all of the berries are dipped, refrigerate them for 30 minutes to set the chocolateThese candies taste best when eaten the same day they are made.
