- NiMH batteries are designed for rapid recharging. The same charge current applied to a nicad could easily cause over-heating. - That's stupid. You should return the charger for a better one. All chargers should be able to charge it and let the laptop stay on for at least an hour without charging (if starting at 100%). Or maybe your charger was just broken or something was wrong when you bought it). My dog chewed up my laptop charger and my parents were so mad. Most chargers will cost at least $50 but my mom went to a far place (not too far, but she had to go on the freeway) to buy a $20 something charger. It works great! :D When you put the charger back in, does it have to start all over at 0% or does it continue? For example, let's say it was at 88% when charging. Then you took out the charger and it was 0% and the laptop shut down. Try putting it back in. Does it start from 0% and increase, or does it start at 88% again? Hope I helped and I hope you fix/get a better charger. :)

- Actually no, you can consider this as an extension, you need a common cable and a positive connected in order to use the electricity. So, consider the charger as a common cable and the phone as positive, and it will draw electricity only when connected, hope this help.

- i know why! its because its a DELL haha there cheap. i would never buy from them only because they are cheap and you know. you should always do it right the first time. Anyways its not the motherboard. because that has nothing to do with it charging since the motherboard doesnt give power to the opponents. the battery does. so it maybe your battery the brick is supposed to get hot. But not to the point where you cant squeeze it in your hand test it take the brick and squeeze it when you think its at its hottest point. if you cant bear the pain.then thats a bad sign that its too hot and you need to return it back to dell or where ever you bought it

- Hello: Over time, chargers break down. Same thing with yours. When it gets really hot, that means it has a defect within the charger. I would suggest you get a new charger. - Q: i have a dell inspiron 1525, is such a thing as an external battery charger. something like i plug into a dock then into a wall socket. i live in australia so i need the right socket plug. don't give me a link and say look on this site please cause then i will have to search every site that someone says MIGHT be there. remember its a DELL INSPIRON 1525. i need this cause i have 2 batteries and it takes to long t charge them in the laptop.
