Q: i have a 02 bmw 325i and the rim size were 15 i think and i changed them to a 18, the tire are also wider. my question is what effects will this have on my car like gas mileage, speedometer, suspension etc do i have to recalibrate anything???????? thnx

Q: I read that Telsa has a ‘air‘ suspension option. And I read that another car, different company, has a ‘hydraulic‘ suspension option. When I read about suspension options on the internet for every-day cars, it involves a pump and the ability to raise or lower the vehicle. Most are manually-controlled, the higher-end cars offer automatic control. Like raising the car to go over speed bumps.What I do not read anywhere on the internet is what these new ‘automatic‘ suspension systems do for normal daily DRIVING. Can you handle curves faster? Turn corners faster? Automatically raise/lower the car, depending upon what is ahead of you? Or is this just a pricey gimmick? I think that the existing knowledge of suspension, like bigger sway bars, and so on, would work just as well as the pump-controlled air or hydraulic systems. But I am possibly wrong.I know nothing about these new systems. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts?

Q: I have a 2008 Wrangler JK Unlimited. I was out with a friend who has a Chevy truck, and found his offered a much softer ride on the trails. After a day out with my Jeep, I feel beat-up and knocked-around. His truck barely noticed a number of the bumps that sent my Jeep rocking all over the place. I assume that there‘s an advantage to having a hard suspension, but I don‘t do anything all that extreme, so having a softer ride would be nice. What do I want to look for in a suspension system if I‘d like ride more like his offers?

Q: I am looking for a mountain bike. I haven‘t ridden a bike in years. My fiance and I will be riding occasionally on trails in parks, etc at a great distance. My fiance is 6‘ 1‘ and has a Trek 3 which is 5 years old. He bought it used for $300.00 and it has full suspension which he says is great for cushion when you hit a bump. I am 5‘ 1 and need a small framed bike. I went to a local family owned bike shop and they recommended the 2009 Giant Boulder SE in a XS/S frame with front suspension. The salesman said that mountain bikers prefer the front suspension and have more control when they hit a bump as opposed to a full suspension. The 2009 went for $380.00 What is your opinion on front and full suspension. Would the Giant be a good deal or should I go with a Trek? Should I look and try and buy a used Trek with full suspension?
The irony here is the Trek bikes you would be looking at are made by Giant, Trek only makes their hi-end carbon fiber bikes. Now not knowing what great distance means, i believe what the salesman was trying to say in a kind way is most people do not need a full suspension bike. For most casual riders a hard tail is more in their price range and will get better spec'd components for the same amount of money. Unless you plan on riding very rough way off the beaten path trials a hard tail will be the better choice. One small note unless you buy a full suspension bike in the $1500+ price range you will find you will be using more energy as these bikes will not have any suspension lock-out systems. EDIT: If the trails are the wide jeep type trails then the bike will do fine, I am assuming you are doing a scenic ride and taking pictures along the way. While 108 miles is a long ride it's not that bad at a casual pace.

Trust me, air suspension systems are far, far more trouble than they're worth for most applications. You'd be better off with hydraulics. Cheaper in the long run, too.
