- Quick fix: Febreeze. Won't clean it, but will hide the smell. - If you go to your local grocery store (price chopper, Hannafords, shop rite, etc.) Sometimes you can rent carpet cleaners or if you go to a bed bath and beyond or linens and things you can buy a carpet cleaner. - Ask the Home Depot people, too, cause they know all the latest stuff, but that Resolve worked for me with other stains. If you ever drop something like that again (a dry powder), vacuum it up first. Then, use the carpet stain remover. good luck.

- how old is the carpet? your best bet is to get a pro carpet cleaner in, they can be expensive but they get the job done as best it can be done! if you cant afford one then try rent a carpet cleaner, i know home-base (i think) rents them out but if you don't have a home-base nearby you can always go to any hire shop and ask if they do it, they'll supply you with the detergent too and its actually kinda fun to do it yourself! and if you rent it you can do all your carpets at no additional cost! good luck!

- I have used the rug doctor and it does a good job. But I would recommend you hire a carpet cleaning service. With a rug doctor you really need 2 people and it's really not an easy job. I think the steamer method that the profressionals use is best because it doesn't leave any soap behind in the carpet which attracts dirt and the carpet will have to be cleaned again sooner.
- Q:I recently bought an ikea rug, which isn't exactly an area rug, but is big enough not to put in a washer. I vacuum it regularly, but it is a white rug with big colourful blobs, and the dirt off of my feet can be seen in certain spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it.. I was just going to buy a carpet cleaner and scrub it, but there are multiple spots with dirt. Also, I'm not sure if the colours are going to bleed if I try to do that.. - I have several chenille carpet, cotton, superfine fiber, light Weinasi, there is a recently developed light wire (this drawback is a hair, good decorative effect, looks bright feeling! - Q:I just replaced my old area rug. The old one was great , I could steam clean it , take it outside and rinse it off and let it air dry. No problems for 4 years, it just got worn out. I replaced it with the same rug from the same store, but the carpet came loose from the backing were I had spot cleaned it. When I vacuumed it pulled out 6 foot of string. I took it back and they replaced it. This new rug, seems a little better, but the backing seems cheap. Is there a way I can re-enforce the backing so the carpet does not come loose from it when I clean it? Would applying carpet seaming adhesive to the entire rug work?
