Q:1972 chevelle just replaced the water pump because of worn shaft bearing and now my car is making a whining?
When I was a kid and had my 53 Chevy 2 dr hard top with a 327 Chevy engine in it. I remember it having a squalling. Kinda sounded like belts or pulley or alt. nope I found out what it was. It had just rained and for some reason the crank shaft seal or timing cover seal drys up and was making a squealing sound. All I did was squirt WD 40 and problem was fixed. But do remove the fan belts and start the engine as to try and eliminate the problem. Good luck

heat water/pump. not sure what that is but I know what a heat pump is. If that whats your talking about thean the answer is well...yes and no. depending on cost of gas and electric typical a heat pump is better to run for heat as along as its above freezing outside. It will still work and put out heat all winter but it won't be much heat for what your paying for, at which point your better with gas heat.
Q:Heater core to water pump.?

Q:I have a water pump question?
What makes you think the water pump is bad? If it has a bad seal/bushing then it will be leaking coolant out of the bottom eyelet on the water pump itself and you would be losing coolant, if its overheating then that could be air trapped in the system and may just need to be flushed or ran for a little bit to circulate the system. I would check these options first but if you want to pressure test it just start the vehicle and squeeze the upper radiator hose to see if there is pressure on the hose. it sounds to me like the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump is leaking. This is what it is supposed to do when the water pump bearing gets some play. You should be able to look from under the engine and see the bottom of the water pump, it will probably look all clean as water has been running out of it. This is how you tell your water pump needs to be replaced. Generally speaking it is best to buy a NEW WATER PUMP, NOT A REMANUFACTURED OR REBUILT. The reason for this is a new water pump will last a lifetime of a vehicle generally speaking, so you only want to do this once because its a pain in the butt. and this is the time to inspect heater hoses, radiator hoses and chang the thermostat . This should solve any issues with the pump leaking, so get the front end of the truck safely up in the air, and make sure there is not a hose leaking or something simple, A shop would do a pressure test of the system and this would show them where your leak is. As a temporary measure you can leave the radiator cap loose so pressure does not build up this will keep the fluid in the vehicle, and not blow it all out the weep hole, just don't leave the cap so loose it blows off on the road somewhere, as long as water stays in, and the radiator is full you can use it.

Okay, Adam, we also have a well and just put in a new one. The setting that says System means that the water is running through the filter. The setting that says by pass means that the water is NOT running through the filter. You will have water either way in your house (or you should).
