1.Description

Aluminium foil (or aluminum foil) is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mils) are also commonly used.[1] In the United States, foils are commonly gauged in thousandths of an inch or mils. Standard household foil is typically 0.016 mm (0.63 mils) thick, and heavy duty household foil is typically 0.024 mm (0.94 mils). The foil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects. Thin foils are fragile and are sometimes laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplanted tin foil in the mid 20th century.

Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, and so it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life petfoods.

4.FAQ:

1)what is aluminum?

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q:OkA friend and I have this obsession with dinosaurs, and we want to do two projectsOne is a small fossil created from shaped pieces of aluminum foil in a shadow box, so we need to figure out what kind of glue would be bestWe also want to make a life size (ish lol) one with aluminum cansprobably around 3ft tall or sobut as realistic as possibleAny ideas on how to cut the cans and shape them without cutting ourselves?
Wear gloves Get a good pair of tin snips rather than ruining some scissors - smaller heads, harder edgesGOOP Craft or Marine is a clear glue that can be used as a slow setting gel or as a contact cement - put it on, touch pieces, pull apart for 10-15 seconds, touch and they stayMarine is more UV protected.
Q:If iron oxide reacts with aluminum, what is the product and what are the ratios of iron oxide to aluminum and of the products to each other.
Why not write a balance equation, and look up reducing potential for all involved, and determine what is going on, ie who is getting electrons removed, electrons added, or not able to happenCan iron oxide exist in different oxidized states would be a good question to find out.
Q:looking for a light weight ice fishing hut plansi am open to all ideas.
Here's my ultimate ice house idea, (No budget) My Problem?- Building a 5 X 8 house that weighs less than 150-200 LB's, (lite enough for 2 men to easily move on the ice without any hassle), that can be utilized as a lockable permanent ice houseFor flooring- 8-12 Thick-wall PVC as the runners bolted to 1/2 framed pressure-treated plywood, (about 75LBs) For Walls Roof- (My father gave me this idea; he was stationed in Alaska and built Quonset huts frequently)- Use hollow aluminum tubing and make a frameUse canvas as walls/roof and then a lite fiberglass resin to stiffen the walls and roofUse foam insulation on all walls another layer of canvas on the inside Viola! A lite-weight, easily moved ice shack for 2-3 And the hollow aluminum PVC could be filled with spray-foam to ensure an ability to float, ( just in case of the worst-case scenario of busting through the ice) This is not the cheapest routeThere are other designs that utilize tarps, wood, EtcHowever, the most important feature, (in my opinion), is the ability to easily relocate the house if your hot fishing spot goes south Hope this helps ya? Good luck!

Q:Hello, I have recently purchased an airbrush gun and have been airbrushing on cotton t-shirtsHowever, the ink tends to fade or get a bit messyWhat advice do you have to make the paint more permanent? It is water basedI heard something about putting a surface inside the shirt with aluminum foil on the surface (inside the shirt) then putting wax paper outside the shirt (over the design) and ironing on thatI don't quite remember what it doesBut yes, any advice would be much appreciated, I am selling these shirts and want top qualityThank you!
Yes, The foil is just to hold the heat in and the wax paper is to keep the iron from sticking to the shirt, but as the first answer says in the dryer will work fineThe customer can do this and there for your not responsible for that part and it won't take time away from your workYou should also be using the correct paint for this, such as Aqua-Flow, or another heat set paintYou can also mention to wash gentle cycle only.
