- Q:Should the couch sit on top of the rug completely or should the rug be in front of the couch?
- for that large of a room, you could have a floating arrangement - if that is the case, the rug should be large enough to come out past each piece of furniture by nearly 2 feet. if you have part of your furniture grouping against a wall, the rug should go approximately halfway under the sofa (and everything else). if a tv is a factor (which likely means it has to be against a wall), it is appropriate to have the rug tuck under the tv cabinet a little bit, or for the rug to end a little bit before the cabinet/console/whatever. that's the best i can do without seeing the room and drawing a space plan! hope it helps

- I'm not certain whether you are asking what to put in a steam cleaning machine or what you can use to clean it without using a steam machine. So, I'll answer both ways. If you want to use the cheapest means possible to clean carpet, remove odors and get down to the padding, a steam cleaner with 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar will do it. Otherwise, use the detergent and solutions recommended for the type of machine you have or rent. If you want to clean the carpet without a machine, you have a couple of choices both are not expensive. You can use dry carpet cleaning granules, Resolve and Capture both make them. You just sprinkle them down, agitate into the fibers with a brush on a stick, let it dry and vacuum it up. Or you can use a foaming cleaner, like Woolite or Scotchguard Foaming Carpet Cleaners, use a damp mop to work it in and a brush to treat stains, allow that to dry and vacuum.
- Q:when every i take my cover off my horse it lets of static electric zaps. (you know like if you shuffle along the floor then tap some one and it lets of this zap) but its not small zaps they are very loud, you can hear them crackle from meters away if you move the cover, but they are also EXTREMELY painful!! - Wash it with a few dryer sheets. And wipe your horse down with dryer sheets too. It's not like there's something wrong with it, it's normal for that too happen. You just have to figure out how to deal with it.

- if you can, hang it outside over a fence or put some chairs together so you can drape it over them and leave it outside all day and night...weather permitting of course. while it is outside take a broom and smack the rug in as many places as you can get too. when you take it back in try sprinkling baking soda on the back and sweep it into the backing. leave it on there for about 1/2 hour then vacuum, turn the rug and do the same thing to the front. baking soda is a neutralizer so it should help. have you tried spraying it with oust? maybe try that while it is outside too. i don't know if i would spray the front if it is a dark color but i would over spray the back. good luck! - yes. carpets have lots of allergens in them You could also have fleas in the carpet. Keep your house very clean - dust and vacccum every week. See if this helps.

- Hi Claire, In choosing a Rug which lasts approx 10 years or more I would suggest that in this case you choose a neutral color. I realize many may think that Tan, Taupe or Light Gray. are a safe choice and so basic. But with that said Carpeting can expensive. Changing the Wall Paint is far more cost effective. In the future, you may decide to use another wall color paint in the room. Tan, Taupe or Light Grey would be my thoughts for you ! * All of the above mentioned colors come in a variety of many shades. I also suggest taking a Paint chip with you to the store for comparisons if you are concerned. Tan/Taupe will provide an earthy color to the room, while Gray colors are visually cool color.
