Q:My water faucet has a male thread at its outlet. I am trying to determine the thread size and type so I can order some fittings. I measured the outer diameter with a caliper and it was about 0.79 (20mm). I tried a 1/2 NPT female fitting and it barely didn't fit.I need to know if it is metric, BSP (British standard pipe), NPT (National Pipe Thread), or garden hose.Thanks!

Q:I got a new faucet with sink and the faucet is not positioned over the drain, also water cloudy. Kindly advise...

It doesn't matter where the faucet is positioned as long as the water goes into the basin. The cloudy water is probably the result of air in the waterlines from being turned off to install the faucet. It will go away. Another reason could be if you didn't have an aerator on the previous faucet and you are now noticing the air that is put into the water.

Q:It slides around constantly. I can even lift it 3/4 inch upwards and see the pipes underneath in their little holes. I have felt under there with my fingers but I don't know what I'm feeling for to try and tighten it. What is the mechanism that tightens it to my sink, and how do I go about fixing it?

i know you know how to tighten it underneath, it's just a loose nut, but as an addition put water based epoxy between the faucet and the basin to have better hold. do not use the faucet overnight for best results.

Q:I have tried a basin wrench, a socket wrench, an adjustable wrench... I have used heat, I have used WD-40, I have used a hammer and a flat head screwdriver to try and loosed the nut and bolt. I have even tried a hacksaw, but that gets me nowhere quick. I really don't want to have to remove my sink completely to change the faucet. I think Hercules tightened these nuts. Can anyone give me some advice on how to get these nuts off so I can change out the faucets?

have you tried a vise grip? they can work very well if you dont care about ruining the nuts. they also come in different sizes to help fit in tight spaces. or you can try to cut them off with a hammer and sharp chisel.

Q:I do not know much about handiwork but I am forced to do it anyway. I ordered a new hose (old one was leaky) for my kitchen faucet. I was able to attach the new hose to the faucet, but am having trouble connecting the other side to the water line.The line runs vertically and is in a tight corner which is preventing me from getting in there with plyers or a wrench. you will need whats called a Basin Wrench to reach up into that small area and unscrew it. any hardware store will have them, and the cheapest one will be fine, the expensive ones are just more durable and adjustable for us plumbers that use them everyday. good luck

Generally speaking, you want to have the faucet centered along the back of the sink. If you have multiple basins, you want to be able to have the faucet reach both (or all three) of them by just swiveling. If you have a single basin, it might work. But, you would want one with a sprayer that pulls out to be able to reach the entire sink.
