just because something is made out of 304 stainless steel does not make it tougher than carbon steel. Stainless steel includes other elements such as chromium. 304 stainless cannot be hardened by heat treatment.

A very thin layer of steel. I've fired the AK47 at tanks, ofcourse that wouldn't penetrate but it's not going to penetrate anything crazy. It is a strong Assault Rifle don't get me wrong.

I have a steel trailer. It's okay but I think next time I'll go for aluminum because mine is rusting, particularly on the tongue, so the hitch gets all frozen up. Drives me nuts. Well generally Stainless steel blades are machine made and are of a display quality.. so expect looks, but don't expect quality or functionality from one. From carbon steel, I'd say you'd be looking at swords for practitioners of a sword art, reenactment, and collector quality blades. Stainless Steel Pros: Good for short blades like kitchen knives, cheap, won't easily rust or corrode. Cons: Long blades like swords become increasingly brittle and can snap with light use, most lack actual tangs(part of the blade that keeps the blade in the handle.) and are just welded onto a wire that[if broken} will send the blade out like a missile when swung, these are cheap display quality only. Carbon Steel Pros: Are usually much stronger and of a higher quality than their stainless counterparts, are often handmade by professional sword-smiths, no two blades are alike, fully functional work of art. Cons: Requires responsible care and maintenance, will corrode and rust easier, can be much more expensive.
Q:keeping a stainless steel stove clean and shiney?
I have a combo of black and stainless in my kitchen; not sure which one is worse some days. For normal everyday stuff, hot, soapy (Dawn), clean dishwater and a microfiber cloth work great. For quick touch ups, a 50/50 mixture of window cleaner and rubbing alcohol also works great. The window cleaner gets the grease and the alcohol helps with streaks and makes the cleaner germ killing. Use with a microfiber cloth. For really nasty burned on stuff, I'd use a sponge with a non-stick cookware safe nylon scrub pad on it and some of the hot, soapy water. Just lay the damp sponge on the spot, let it soak a bit and see if it comes off. If not, try a little Barkeeper's Friend. Dampen, sprinkle, smear it around a little and let it soak for about 10 minutes. Then scrub with the sponge. Wipe up the residue with the microfiber cloth. The microfiber cloths are really key; they wipe more efficiently than any sponge, wipe, paper towel, dish rag. Get several and change them out frequently. You just wash and dry them; no fabric softener and you're ready to use them again. And it wouldn't hurt to keep a protective coat of a good stainless steel product on there either. That helps keep the stuff from getting such a good hold. But I've found that most of those are pretty bad at cleaning; so clean it first, then polish.
