Q: I need to know about the fuseable link. and or wiring diagrams.
depending on how it was set up to the solenoid, you could have two or three wires, including the battery cable. that large wire goes from the b terminal on the starter to the battery positive. there is also an i terminal on some, that is a wire that goes from that terminal to the ignition coil indirectly for a full 12 volts or close to it while cranking. the last terminal should be the s terminal. it goes back to the ignition switch.if you only get a single solid click, i think the solenoid is a good potential for the problem. if you pull that off and remove the plastic cover at one end, you will find the moving contact section. either flip that copper piece around or use a fine file or sand paper to clean it up along with the contacts in the cap itself. after all of that is clean, reassemble and bench test it before you reinstall it. if it cranks over well and at high enough a speed, then install it. if not, check the battery and then maybe have the starter tested at a shop. if you reinstall it and it still only gives you a solid click, then see if you can crank the engine over with a socket on the crank. bolt. if that does not work, then pull all of the plugs and try again.
Q: Some states allow the use of aluminum wire in houses in place of copper. If you wanted the resistance of your aluminum wire to be the same as that of copper, would the aluminum wire have to have a greater diameter than, smaller diameter than, of the same diameter as the copper wire? Calculate the thickness ratio of aluminum to that of copper.
The resistivity of copper is ρ_Cu = 1.72 x 10^(-8) ohm - meters, whereas that of aluminum is ρ_Al = 2.82 x 10^(-8) ohm-meters [1]. Assuming that the wire runs are the same length L, the resistance in the aluminum wire will be R_Al = ρ_Al * L/A_Al, where A_Al is the cross-sectional area of the aluminum wire. The resistance in the copper wire will be R_Cu = ρ_Cu * L/A_Cu. If we want the same resistance in both wires, we require R_Cu = R_Al: ρ_Cu * L / A_Cu = ρ_Al * L / A_Al A_Al / A_Cu = ρ_Al / ρ_Cu. Since the resistivity ρ_Al of aluminum is higher, the aluminum wire must have a larger cross sectional area to yield the same resistance. To make this precise, suppose the wires are cylindrical. Then the cross sectional area is π(R_Al)? for the aluminum wire and π(ρ_Cu)? for the copper wire: π(R_Al)?/π(ρ_Cu)? = ρ_Al / ρ_Cu R_Al/R_Cu = √(ρ_Al / ρ_Cu) = √(2.82/1.72) = 1.28 The aluminum wire must be 28% thicker than the copper wire in order to provide the same resistance.
Q: subs - dvc 4ohm 2 of them 600wattrms on each wiring it to a 1200 watt amp same brand as sub amp is 1 ohm stable to i wire the subs together and then to the amp a 1ohm? that would give each sub 600 watts right?
myself I even have 2 - jl w6's under pressure to 3 ohms. under pressure to a fosgate 4 channel amp, the two channels bridged and the amp sees a million/2 ohm after bridging and the amp works positive with the best points set at 0 i are not getting the suitable overall performance this type and would desire to cord to 6 ohms. and bridge to 3 ohms and this would be greater suitable yet have not tried it yet will interior the destiny. shop this set up if it sounds reliable yet seem interior the destiny to get an amp or subs that artwork at the same time.
Q: im installing a line out converter on my 2006 avalnche and i need to know which wires go to the right and left rear speakers so i can install it, do you know which is wire goes to where?

Q: Hi,I'm looking to change the outlets and the switch and light fixture in a bedroom of a home built in 1948. The outlets are original to the home I think. Will I have to fish ground wire throught to the panel box for my new receptacles? Or just install new 2 slot outlets? Why the different looking wires? Is the older wire copper with a silver colored coating to indicate being neutral or is this an old aluminum wire? The hot wire is red plastic coated and looks modern to me.
In '48 your house won't have a ground wire as you found out. If it is wired with BX cable ( metal clad) you can see in the basement or crawl space, the ground is actually taken to the outlet by the metallic casing. Then all you would have to do is get a bag of ground wires with screws already crimped on them at Home Depot called Greenies. You screw them into one of the holes inside the box and attach the other end to the ground screw on the switch or outlet. The red casing you are describing actually sounds like red electrical tape wrapped around deteriorating wire in the box as the other wire looks raggy. The wire you see that looks aluminum MAY be aluminum someone added in the '70's when al wire was used, but BOTH would be replaced and there would have been a ground wire. I don't know why it looks silver, but I have seen old wiring like that and it is usually copper. If you see the BX cable you are good adding the ground wire, if it is a silvery looking cloth casing, then install new NON-grounded receptacles.
Q: (a) A copper wire and an iron wire have the same length and same diameter and carry same current I. In which wire is the electric field greater?(b) Can a 1mm in diameter copper wire have the same resistance as a tungsten wire of the same length?[Use p(copper)=1.7x10^-8 ohm meters, p(iron)=1x10^-8 ohm meters, p(tungsten)=5.6x10^-8 ohm meters]
a Since copper has higher resistivity than iron, the voltage drop in the copper wire with the same dimensions as the iron wire is greater, meaning more Volts/meter in the copper wire so the E field is greater in the copper wire. b Resistance is proportional to length, resistivity, and inversely proportional to diameter. Increasing the diameter could compensate for a material with higher resistivity. So the answer is yes.
Q: What role does the neutral wire play?
It provides the return current path. Without it positive current would have no where to flow once it enters a device. Here's why: Think about you sink... you need a pipe to bring the water in, this is the hot wire. Without a drain the water has no where to go to, this is the neutral wire. Without a drain there is no net flow of water.
Q: i need magnetic wire to make a coil and build aradio
You can often get varnished wire at an outlet such as radio shack. I have also used the yokes of old TV sets that I usually got for free at a local repair shop. I had to carefully unwind the coils. The wire in an automobile ignition coil is another potentially free source. You can purchase electrical insulating varnish as well. Krylon makes an aerosol variety and most others come in a regular can, but you would have to be creative in dipping the wire and suspending it to dry without damaging the coating.
Q: I have just learned how to make some pretty cool bracelets out of telephone wire and i would like to know where to find more telephone wire. Could someone tell me where i might be able to find some?

Q: I bought a cheap amp wiring kit so the ground wire is not the same size as the power wire but my friend gas me an extra piece of 8 gauge wire same as mine if i put both of these to on at the same time would it help out any? also he gave me some audio cable like the wires inside are twisted to gather the box says it gives you better sound quality would they make a difference in sound that the one's i have on there know? Thanks
NO, you need to buy thicker wire because electricity follows the path of least resistance which means if one of the wires is 1/8 of an inch longer than the other, that is the wire the most electricity will flow through, as far as the speaker wire it wont make a difference unless it is thicker than what you already have installed (its very hard to tell the difference in sound quality even with very high quality speakers
