- You can use a Scotch Block Electrical Connector, or Scotch-Lok if you put them on correctly you won't have any trouble with the connection, these are fast connectors. If they are going to be outside in the dirt and rain, heat shrink wrap them, you should really always do that but especially out in the weather.

- No, no reprogramming is required when wires are replaced. Did this just happen after the wires were replaced? It only happens while in gear, not in park or neutral? It could be the incorrect wires with too much resistance in them but that would more likely also show up while idling. I would more likely suspect that this is just coincidence and something else is wrong.

- First of all, I agree with Peter K, and you must get those instructions--Very Important! How a fixture is wired depends upon its location in relation to the wires that lead from the main service entrance. So really no one can tell you for sure how to wire your ventilation fixture up without Seeing it. Also, how many switches are involved..1,or 2 or 3? Usually, White wires are always neutral, black always hot. BUT- in certain switch installations both black and white wires could be hot too. Red wires are used for grounding. Now there are improved grounding systems for greater safety, other colors involved, and jumper wires that are connected to the receptacle for a continuous ground. So that is why every one has answered your Q with caution about telling you how to do it. Sorry, I wasn't much of a help either!

- One of the chandelier wires will go to the red and the other to the white wire--it does not matter which one goes to which. The third wire is likely bare (or green) and is a ground wire. Connect this wire to the ceiling box and to the third wire in the ceiling if there is one.

- Well, keeping your colors straight will definitely make your wiring easier to understand later on. Red should got to the positive side, black to the negative. Any other colors are more or less up to you. What actually matters more is choosing the right gage of wire for the job. If your wire is too thin for the current going through it, it will melt quite quickly and possible start a fire. Make sure you know what gage you need before you start, and don't try to go cheap.
