Q: ok I took apart my bearings, cleaned the shields with water, put about 2 drops of lube in each after letting the bearings sit in a 50% alcohol solution for 10 minutes, put it all back together after drying off the stuff and lubing it. Just rode it today and it seems that the bearngs are making noise.... is this normal???
Don't just let them sit in the solution, you have to shake them around to get the crud out. You can get a Bones Bearing Cleaning Kit, or make your own (Google is your friend here). If I haven't cleaned my bearings in a while, I usually rinse heavily with water to get thick dirt off, then put them in a 90% alcohol solution (50% is a bit low, that's half water) in that Bones cleaning it, shake for ~10 minutes, and then do it again, then wait until they dry (put them on a heat vent or something), then two drops in each bearing and I spin them to make sure they're quiet before re-assembling the shields and whatnot. If they're still noisy, I put another drop of lube in.
Q: 90 15ierra 4cyl 4 tech motor.oil pump came loose and rod bearins turned and have the motor up nd pn off. m just curous if theres an easy way to take them out?do i takeone out the turn the motor to get to th other bearings?
are you sure only the rod bearings are affected and no damage to crank pin ? remove the oil pan and work under the engine. when you remove the oil pan you can have access to connecting rods, you just unbolt the rod cap and replace the bearings then re-torque back the cap's bolts. you may turn the crankshaft while working around on each rod..
Q: Ok so my bearing shields recently got bent inwards and i researched it up online and it says that dirt and other stuff can get into the bearings easier and since im sort of a lazy guy i dont want to do the whole cleaning process so can skateshops clean bearings for you like with a dissolvent or something if you paid them a few bucks and also do you think that skateshops can also flatten out your bearing shields as well thanks if you answer
Yes, they can/ should be able to do that there. Since you said in your other question that you have ceramic bearings, the cost of this cleaning/repair would be alot cheaper than new bearings. I would take it in and see how much they charge, what they suggest, and how confident they are that they can fix it. If they charge alot then just ride them till you notice a decrease in performance. Then take them in and get them cleaned. If they don't charge much and sound like they can easily straighten out the cover, then ya, go for it.
Q: how do i change my swingarm bearings on my 2004 rm 125?
the bearings are press fit. you drive them out with a hammer and a punch. You need a hydraulic press to push the new bearings in place. The best way is to remove the swingarm and take it to the dealer to replace the bearings. The bearings usually get rusted up before they actually wear out. You might be able to clean them with solvent and regrease them.
Q: Sup guys, first new thread. Anyways,i have a 2004 Honda 400ex. I noticed the other day that when i get on it and rock from side to side (stationary with engine off) the axle stays still but the rest of the quad moves and clicks sort of. It moves up and down, but not very much from side to side. Probably 1/16 side to side. And about 1/4 to 1/2 up and down. I tried tightening the jam nut or whatever its called (the left hand thread. I dont know as tht i tightened it right). But that did nothing. My rotor also moves front and. Back. I was told i need carrier bearings. I hope not because its wednesday and i have. Planned riding trip this weekend. If it is bearings, can i just tighten the nut and ride, then replace it?
it sounds like carrier bearings. keep your chain adjusted slightly tighter than usual. you can run it some with it that way. stay out of the mud! if you're going for a looong trail ride, you should replace them. also know that if you let them go too long it gets real expensive when you eat into that carrier housing!!! i've ridden many miles on bad bearings, you just have to watch them close and run a bit easier than normal. if at all possible change them before your ride, other wise go easy, have fun!!
Q: What is the bearing capacity of needle bearing and copper sleeve?
The bearing capacity of plain bearings with copper sleeve is large. However, the speed of the shaft has a certain requirement, the speed is too low, too high, can not establish oil film, will soon wear.
Q: I am going to purchase some on amazon. What is the difference between the two? Please explain in detail.
I thought you were talking about ball bearing hinges. I think I am incorrect though. If so electric ball bearing hinges are much more.
Q: So lets say I fill the cup all the way around with bearings, then how many do I remove before putting the cone on?
Never use old bearings with new ones. The old ones are worn and no longer the same size as the new ones. If properly installed, bearing retainers should never be damaged in a bottom bracket. I have a Campagnolo bottom bracket on one of my bikes. The bearing retainers in that bottom bracket are the ones that came with it when I bought it in 1973. I have changed the ball bearings several times but I kept the bearing retainers. If your bearing retainers are being damaged it is because of improper installation or other damage. Since you also had trouble with damaged bearing retainers in your headset, I vote for improper installation
Q: I recently made a trade with another airsofter and i found that the shell was missing some ball bearings and the spring was bent. where can I find a replacement for this. I live near carpendersville and there are very few airsoft stores around that i can get to. The shell just releases the gas once i fill to a certain point (like in .25 seconds)
Airsoft belongs in different - outdoors interest. You heard precise. They intentionally manufacture airsoft grenade launchers somewhat too small to chamber a genuine 40mm grenade . it somewhat is to stay away from the possibility of duplicate launchers being changed to settle for stay rounds. for a similar reason, they do no longer look to be allowed to make airsoft launchers with good rifled barrels (some have pretend rifling which looks precise from a distance, yet is relatively opposite rifled - raised ribs in preference to inset grooves).
Q: How can I measure to see what size main and rod bearings I need, I know to use plasti guage but from there how do I decide
That depends on if they are direct fit bearings on your motor. Then there are punch marks somewhere that tell you what size bearing was used.
