- Q:Need to remove cement like glue from painted metal. Any house hold items i can use or do i have to buy a glue remover. i.e. rubbing alcohol , cleaners ect. Thanks
- Go to your local paint store and get a solvent based thinner, apply to area and wipe off. Should work but if cement based glue has dried rock hard you will probably need to use an angle grinder to remove it.

- Cement quantity of nominal mix 1:2:4 for 1 cubic meter is 6.36 begs. ( 50 kgs / beg) based on 18 begs / 100 cubic feet. how to calculate it for mix 1:3:6? Assumptions: Loose Cement 1440 Kg/ cubic meter Loose Sand 1525 Kg /cubic meter aggregate avarage 1500 Kg / cubic meter 7 cubic meters of loose mix will give 5 cubic meters of solid concrete. 1:3:6, 1 cubic meter of cement + 3 c.m. of sand + 6 c.m. of aggregate will give 10 cubic meters of loose material. when mixed in a mixture will give 10 x ( 5/7) = 7.143 cubic meters of solid containing 1440 Kg of cement. So 1 cubic meter will have 1440 / 7.143 = 201.59 Kg of cement 201.59 / 50 = 4.03 begs/ cubic meters of 1:3:6 mix

- Q:I would like to close up my a/c for winter. I have the insulation and plastic but do not know how to attach it to my cement walls. - If the cement is dry, dry brush it briskly and apply a 2 strip of double sided tape like they use for carpets. The other choice is to use that Velcro tape. It comes in a roll in a dispenser. It has tremendous holding power. A third choice would be to drill some 3/16 plastic plug holes, then drill a matching piece of 1x2. The 1x2's will hold the plastic in place when you screw the wood to the cement wall. Hope this helps.

- I like Goop or wood glue. I think the 2-coat rubber cement may be the same as contact glue.

- Cement is a fine, gray powder made out of fly ash, dolomite, marl and other ingredients. Cement is used to make CONCRETE and I believe that is what you are referring to when you say cement. Concrete is made from cement, fine aggregate(sand), coarse aggregate(gravel) and water. Other admixtures can be added to make the concrete perform in a given manner, ie: hot or cold temperatures, water reducers, accelerators and retarders. To call concrete cement would be like going to the store for a loaf of flour.(flour is the main ingredient in bread)
- Q:I spent ?800 on this and am really worried that this is wasted (the use by date on the paper wrapping is october 2008. I have opened one of the bags and there is still powder in it however there are hard bits. Is there anything i can now do with this cement? The builders start mid may. thanks
- Dome dweller is not right as the powder is roasted, and crumbling it is not going to restore the chemical properties of the original cement. I use old cement for things that don't matter much - like laying paving slabs, and use about twice as much as fresh cement. It will set fine and perform OK but it is much weaker than good stuff so dont use it for walls or anything important. ?800 is a load of cement - should be 200+ bags? If not you need to look for a better deal - phone some builder's merchants when you are looking for the next lot and get it delivered the day the builders are starting. COver it up or better still keep it inside. Any left over unopened bags will last a long time if they are in a sealed binbag as the paper sack is only moisture resistant, and the cement will pull moisture out of the air to go off like you present lot.
