Q: i purchased an SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA bidirectional adapter, the problem i have is my PC is SATA and has no IDE power cables for the drive. am i missing something here ? the seller tells me that they have had no issues before. i cannot find a IDE power cable to power the drive anywhere in the PCPC is intel vpro5 1gb ram SATA systemim trying to connect my IDE HDD.thanks
Q: I have lost the power cable which came with my computer's PSU and after looking online for a while the online shops seem to sell the power cables with little information about whether or not they will function with different PSUs so I am guessing it doesn't matter which one I buy.
Any three prong power cable will work. You can buy them at Wal-mart, Radio Shack, Best buy. $10 to $15 at the most
Q: Hey, my parents just bought me a turntable and I have no idea where one of the cables would go into a normal stereo or what I might need to buy to be able to plug it to a normal modern stereo.
That's the power cable, you'll have to look on the turntable it's self to see what the voltage is. Maybe some were standard 110 volt (220 in Europe), but usually they are lower, something like 24 volts or 48 volts. Those were pretty common in the 1980s when complete component stereos were commonly sold much like 'Home Theater Speakers In A Box' are today. The amplifier plugged into the wall everything else like the cassette deck, radio tuner turntable plugged into the back of the amp using those low voltage cables. There were some advantages to this system. The obvious ones being you only had one 110 volt electric cord you could turn on the stereo with the touch of one button. But it also made the system use less of your home's electrical power. Since the only component that needs a lot of power is the amplifier, you could use lower voltage transformers for the other components. Which I suspect are smaller, run cooler, or both. They might even have less noise interference than 110 volt transformers. (Perhaps someone who knows how electronics circuits work can enlighten us on what the actual advantages are.) I also suspect it saved on the cost of building the stereo systems. If the turntable uses 110 volts, it should be pretty easy to have someone convert the turntable to have a standard power cord on it. If the turnable uses a lower voltage, it probably wouldn't be cost efficient enough to make the conversion unless you knew enough about electronics to do it yourself. And you may want to look for the amplifier or receiver that the turntable is compatible with, on OKorder or Craig's List.
Q: So i'm trying to start up an old windows 98 model. I was thinking of using the cable from a laptop because it fits into the power supply. Problem is i don't know if its safe, advice?. On the computer it says quot;AC input: 115V~/230V~,10/5A 60/50HZON the power cable on the other hand, it says 16A 250VAm i good to go?
Both the 250v and the 15A are higher than the computer will need / be consuming So it is safe to use.
Q: I had gave my amp a 16 volt input, then there was a spark which came from fuses that got burnt. I then replaced the fuses, rewired it nd gave it a 12 volt input it came on and went on protection. So i left it aside and after a few days i tryd connecting it again but this time it came on and it was burning the power cables no matter what guage wire i used. Any idea why its doing that?
It's a 12 volt DC car-type amp ? Sounds like it's got a short inside. But, unhook all the other wires, all the speaker leads imputs, except for the power the ground. Have a fuse in one of those two leads, turn the amp OFF, hook up it. If the fuse pops right away, then odds are it is now a piece-'o-junk. If it sits okay, turn it on, with no volume. Again, if the fuse goes, trash it. If it holds okay, hook up ONE of the speakers give it a little volume. Even without an imput, you should be able to hear a bit of static, which means it's working okay. Turn it off try another speaker....etc etc
Q: How, i guess versatile are they. I have a Dell M1730. Basically i went on a plane and left the power cable in the suitcase, took the laptop as carry on and they lost my luggage. Is this something i HAVE to buy from dell, or can i run to circuit city and get something. The brick for this laptop is HUGE.....my dad's laptop cable fits in fine, but i'm afraid to plug it into an outlet.Thanx
Dell is better than they used to be. Their XPS laptops are not half bad, and their standard cheap ones are good for basic use (school, surfing the web, etc). I find them fun to modify, but that is probably a bit above the level of most general users. HP is pretty solid, Asus is a good contender (I have had a few Asus laptops with no issues), and Toshibas are good for general use as well. I do recommend to you (and anyone who uses a computer) to actually learn basic maintenance and repair for your computer. Saves you money in the long run, and with a decent level of knowledge, you will rarely even need any sort of tech support. Computer basics are not difficult, you just have to take the time to learn it.
Q: I have a Canon Pixma MP190. Recently moved house and lost chord/cable so left with just printer and USB cable. Please help... I've looked on Canon's website and OKorder. Thank you!
First okorder and type in that model
Q: the cable that comes out of the ocean and goes onto the island. Sayid finds it
The underwater Dhrama Looking Glass station. Remember from the season finale of season 3 I believe, it's where Desmond and Charlie swam to to press the button thing to allow communication with the outside world, but those two women were there and then Mikhail showed up and Charlie ended up drowning after Mikhail threw a grenade at the control room Charlie was in, but before Charlie drowned he managed to tell Desmond that the freighter was not Penny's boat.... ringing a bell? The cable was to provide power to it.
Q: where can i put my amp power cable through my bulk head in my 1999 1.8L 16 valve ford mondeo lx?
Find the main harness going through the fire wall and follow it
Q: can i use the dynex ac power cable for a sharp aquos 32 in LC-32D47UT or if i cant can someone give me a link?
A power cable is a power cable. they are all essentially the same. If it fits, use it.
