- Q: We laid tile in our Master bath about a month and a half ago. Now we have 2 tiles that are crackd. I would like to no what caused it. We have a slab foundation.
- It depends on what you used as the adhesive. You may not have enough thinset/tile adhesive under the cracked tiles OR the slab floor was not leveled properly. You will have to remove those 2 tiles and scrape the adhesive off the floor and check for level. Once that is done you can re-apply thinset adhesive as that is the best for flooring applications, and re-set the tiles in the new thinset and tap them down a little bit so they are level with the tiles around them.
- Q: I hava a 12x12 ceramic tile that we want to hang on the wall (not permanently). The tile has no hooks or anything in it. What‘s the best way to hang it?

- Q: Someone spilled a cleaning liquid on my marble tiles and the glaze came off. Does anyone know how to get the shine back to normal. Right now some parts look regular, and other parts are white. With a certain angle you can clearly see the glaze is taken off.

- Q: hello! if i have a connected dining room/kitchen and the kitchen has ceramic tile (that is old) and the dining room has carpet, can i just rip up the carpet and install vinyl tile over the ceramic then over the sub-floor without any issues?
- You could, but it would look good or wear well. The will probably be a height difference between the ceramic tile and the sub-floor under the carpet. The vinyl tile will not lay smoothly over the ceramic tile. It may not adhere to the ceramic tile. It is a bit more work to remove the ceramic tile, but the end result will be worth i. Since the ceramic tile is old, it will probably come up easily. Bottom line--take up the ceramic tile and do the job right.
- Q: Do you seal only the grout or the whole tile and grout?

- Q: Hey there. We are in the process of adding a half bath to our home. We purchased tiles months ago at a tent sale at out local tile store. We have some wall corners that might require bullnosed corner tiles but this wasnt taken into account when we purchased the tiles and now we cannot find matching bullnose tiles anywhere.......Is there any was to finish the wall edges without using bullnosed tiles and have it still look good???
- Bnose tile is a new simplified way of doing tile and was to remove one of the grout edges. So all you have to do is grout the top like they did in the old days a few years ago. You could also use a thin lat of flat trim, a brass or stainless steel edging, or caulking that matches the wall or tile. I think the simple grout is your best bet. PS. Where corners meet If the tile is same color through they can show. If it is glazed colored or just a thin color on top then no. In that case cut the tile back so that they do not quite reach the corner. Then there will be a slight inverted corner where you will grout or caulk. In neither case would you want to miter the corner. It will be too sharp and thin corners would be weak enough to chip.
- Q: i;m going to install a medallion and i need to cut circle on four tiles. is there anything else besides a hand grinder that will do the job, ( cheap) i don‘t want to spend 300$$ just to cut 4 tiles to make a circle for the medallion to fit. thanks

- Q: I have a very outdated bathroom with pink tile covering just about every wall. I love to do DIY projects but can‘t afford to replace the tile. I can however afford to paint it. I read up on it and found the paint directions but don‘t want the end result to look tacky. Has anyone done this and liked the results?
- have seen it after was completed came up reasonable you have to clean the tiles then apply a special primer then the tile paint there are pens around that can redo the grout lines. you must get the correct materials and follow everything as recomended the paints are not cheap. they might not have those paints in the. U.S.
- Q: I have this ceramic tile in my bathroom (on the wall, not the floor). There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, except it is an incredibly ugly color. I would like to paint it, rather than rip it all down just to put up more tile. Any suggestions?
- If you go to the DIY store I would think you would get paint especially for the job. When you have a smooth surface to get paint or varnish to stick to it you need to give it a key (ie use sand paper to give it something to grip) This wouldnt work here as it would damage your tiles. Another thought is you get these transfers which are just squares a different colour that you can put on tiles maybe that would be worth a go.

- Tile looks soooo much nicer and it is durable and easy to care for. I tiled my kitchen countertops and backsplash and small bathroom floor. It really is easy. Home Depot and Lowe's has a free class. You don't need to buy a video. There are plenty of websites with good instructions and pictures. A few tips...the hardest parts are the initial planning and if doing the bathroom, removing the toilet. I drew my floor to scale, one foot equals one inch on paper (if you are using the standard 12 tiles. Take a piece of wax paper and draw one inch grid large enough to cover the drawing of your room. It is pretty good in showing you how the tiles will fit. The pencil lines are your grout lines. Also, buy a few tiles and lay them out to be sure of your design. It really isn't hard and to looks so good when you are finished. Just take your time.
