Q:What causes burnt valves?
Several things, the most common being too much heat in the combustion chambers. The heat literally melts slots in the valve face-I had one from 4.9 Ford truck with a clogged radiator that made the valve look like a sand dollar. Anything causing it to run hot , or hotter than designed, needs to be addressed. The other common problem is opening the exhaust up TOO much-Exhaust valves(which, by the way, are the ones that burn 95% of the time), are designed to have exhaust system backpressure help seat them when they close, thereby transferring the maximum amount of heat from the valve face onto the valve seat, which cools them down before the next cycle. Taking off converters, and staight-piping the exhaust will almost always result in burnt valves. An inoperative EGR system, which by design lowers the combustion chamber temperature , can contribute to valves burning.Overheating , however, is the most common cause.

It is mounted in the valve cover if my memory serves me right.There may possibly be a clip on the inside of the cover holding the valve in. I am thinking the reason is because if it's time to change the PVC valve, it's also probably time to change the valve cover gasket. I would pull the valve cover off, change the valve, replace the gasket on the valve cover and reinstall. Makes a simple job really long but you never know what the engineers of cars had in mind!!

Assuming that the stop valves are good, turning them off will stop the flow of water to the sink taps. To test them, turn on the water faucet at the sink, then turn off both stop valves. The water should stop coming out of the faucet. If it continues to drip, the stop valves are defective and should be replaced when you do the job. If this is the case you'll have to shut off the main water valve or a valve upstream of the stops to replace them. Good Luck

A Schrader valve coming loose is a rare occurrence. If you didn't damage anything and the valve core itself is coming loose, there's a tool to tighten them. Old-fashioned valve caps actually had this tool built in. You can still buy the tools for a couple bucks at auto parts stores. But of course, a new tube will cost about $3 and solve the problem.

The good news is that in aircraft there are mostly multi-spring valve springs to help prevent the resonance problem that can happen with a single spring. (If one goes resonant, the other one doesn't.) I think what that means is that if you have valve spring surges in an aircraft engine, you probably have a broken spring or weak on the assembly. (just a guess but if they don't go resonant at the same time then how would you get the surge?) The affect, not good.
