Q: i need to know what color the wires are to hook up a stereo in my friends truck. her factory radio was stolen and they stole the factory plug
1998 Dodge Ram Pickup Stereo Wiring Constant 12V+ Red Switched 12V+ Red/White Ground n/a Illumination n/a Dimmer Orange/White Antenna Trigger Yellow Antenna Right Front Front Speakers 6 x 9 Doors Left Front (+) Dark Green Left Front (-) Brown/Red Right Front (+) Purple Right Front (-) Dark Blue/Red Rear Speakers 5 1/4 Side Panels Left Rear (+) Brown/Yellow Left Rear (-) Brown/Light Blue Right Rear (+) Dark Blue/White Right Rear (-) Dark Blue/Orange
Q: how do I replace this, the wire is built into the speaker and runs into the unit.
If you have enough wire, just twist it back together and cover the open wiring with electrical tape. If he took out a chunk of wire, just buy some more speaker wire and do t he same thing. The wires should be red and black, just connect the red to the red and the black to the black. It's a really quick and easy fix you can do yourself.
Q: Car audio wiring diagram
If you cannot get a wiring diagram for your stereo or car. It's still pretty simple to install a stereo. You basically just gotta color code all the wires. Red sometimes orange is power wire, black is ground, blue is remote the rest are speaker wires. Look for wires that are identical such as light blue light blue with a white stripe, gray dark gray with a white stripe etc.....
Q: OK - I removed my old light switch and can see that there are only 2 wires coming out of the wall to be found - 1 white and 1 black. There are absolutely no other wires that I can see back there. The dimmer switch has 2 black wires and 1 green. I'm really not sure what to do. I tried to connect the 2 black ones to the black one and the green wire to the white wire. I admit this wasn't the smartest thing, but thought I'd try. Got nothing. Any help is super appreciated.
If you don't know the basic rule of matching up the colors when wiring something, you may want to avoid doing anymore wiring projects in the future, for your own safety and to keep from destroying your stuff. First of all, turn off the power at the breaker or remove the fuse for that switch. Then: Black to Black, White to White, you can just let the green wire hang or, if you have a metal box, attach it to that. (that's your ground wire, no power goes thru it when things are working properly). Sometimes in older houses (or ones where amatures did the wiring the first time) the colors might not be correctly assigned (usually, black is hot and white is neutral) if your light only flips off and on instead of dimming like it should when you try it, you will have to switch the wires so that it is black to white and white to black (You probably won't need to do that though). Use wire nuts to connect the wires together, not just electrical tape. Good luck and be safe!
Q: I have a new light fixture I am trying to install. The electrical box has two sets of black and white wires coming in. Both of the black wires are connected together while the white wires from either set were used to connect the old fixture. How should I wire in the new fixture. The switch for this light has only one set of black and white wires connected to the light switch.
Possibly the box was wired using 2-conductor romex as a switch leg. That means one of the blacks is the power into the fixture box. It connects to the other black that goes to the switch. From the switch, the white is used to feed power back to the fixture. Hence you have one white that is neutral and one that is energized. This is not your fault but is 100% wrong, against code and is dangerous for someone like you that is trying to figure out what was done. Switch legs are accomplished using three conductors; one red, one black and one white. Use a current tester and see if you have one white that is hot and one that is neutral. If so, use a black magic marker and color the hot white one black. Do the same where it attaches to the switch.
Q: I am replacing an old outlet with a GFCI and I have encountered a red wire...what is the red wire for?
Just loose in the box or was it connected to the receptacle? If connected, it could be a switched wire to control half the receptacle. That won't work with a GFCI receptacle. Wire nut it off in the box.
Q: I need someone's help on wiring my new JVC radio to its harness for a 1991 Chevrolet S10. Please Ty very much.
Here you go Bro:) 1991 Chevrolet S10 Blazer Car Stereo Radio Wiring Diagram. Q: What does the wire do for braces? What happens if you pull it out and everything else it ok?
The wire is what makes braces function. When an orthodontist tightens braces, s/he adjusts the wire or replaces it completely, which causes the teeth to move. Removing the wire ceases the functionality of the braces.
Q: I bought a new ceiling light and wired it myself. But I cheated by just copying the wiring from the old bracket into the new one. I want to do the other ceiling lights in my home. Supplied with the lights I am using is a 3 - way bracket (sori if terminology is wrong). Anyway the old bracket I copied was 4 way. My lights are wired from the mains supply with 3 live wires, 3 neutrals, and 3 positives. The light unit only has one live/neutral/positive wire. What do I do with the extra mains supply wires? I hope I have made myself clear as I even I am confused. Many thanks.
Sounds like you have extra wires that are feeding other outlets or lights.
Q: I have two ceiling lights in my kitchen that come into the same wiring box (light switch). It's a single light switch that controls both lights. I want to install a two fixture light switch so that I can turn on each light by itself. It looks like there are only two wires coming into the box...a black one and a white one (and a ground wire). The two-switch I bought is requiring three wires though. How do I wire this thing?
if you don't know how to wire for what you want ..i could not tell you enough to get you through the job..but , you can get a pull string on / off switch at the hardware store that will do the same thing that you want ..anyone can do that..just unscrew the light bulb and screw in the pull switch then screw in the light bulb ..they do have them in remote control but they ain't cheap..good luck
