Q:When I had my tires rotated last month, Family Tire (the place where I got my tires rotated) told me that I would need 4 new tires by October because they would be worn out by then.I went to a mechanic a week ago, he said that the tires looked fine.My girlfriend says we shouldn‘t need to get the tires rotated because the tires were Sumitomo which, to my understanding, is supposed to be the best tire you can get.I can‘t tell if they‘re worn out or not. Is there a way to tell? I don‘t want to drive on the highway and suddenly get a flat and get in an accident.
My friend, don't down shift, unless it's absolutely necessary to avoid a major accident. Reason for this, brakes were made to take the stress of stopping a vehicle. The transmission was not. It cost less to fix the brakes, than to replace the transmission. I see this all the time at the mechanics shop I used to work at. Particularly in standards. The brakes are there for a reason, just like the emergency brake. Think of it this way. Your going 70 mph on the highway, and you down shift, either a manual or a standard transmission, to the next gear. You are now putting the centrifical force of either the flywheel (standard) or the torque converter (automatic) at a 70 mph speed, probably around 2 -1/2 to 3 thousand rpms, to the next gear down. This pre-maturely wears out each type of these units. Automatic transmission rebuilds can cost up to $1,500 or more depending on the type. Standards slightly less. New ones can run around $3,000 or more, also depending on type. Your hybrid comes with a 600 lb. battery. The weight of about 2 passengers. It gets it's charge from a dyno while in motion. This battery is costly to replace. At one time it's cost was around $10,000, and it has to be removed with a small crane. Now the cost is lower, but not worth the headache to pay to replace it still. I hope you please take what I am stating into extreme consideration. This won't answer your question, but hopefully save you alot of money and headaches in the long run.
Q:Need to replace the tires. Looking for 16 inch tires that handle great in wet weather and snow. Thanks.
call any tire store and ask same thing like whats is a good all weather tire in the size you have ask then whats doee it cost i tell ever one to always ask whats your cheapest tire in that size but after they tell you price you ask what else you have in that size and that tire will be the better tire to get but really any all weather tire would be just fine you want to know the best just type in consumer reports all weather tires will give you a ideal by calling three tire stores as to where an d what kind
Q:the tire pressure.
I LOOK at my tires every time I get in to drive, but actually check the air pressure with a gauge about once a month. This is about the same time I do a complete under-the-hood service check and top off all the fluids as necessary. Of course, I only drive this car about 200 miles a month.
Q:Where can I buy used Formula 1, IRL, or Le Mans racing tires for decoration (not for my car)??
These may be hard to come by. Tires for teams in Le Mans are leased rather than purchased by teams (teams themselves never see the inner construction, wheels are given to the tire company reps on site which then mount the tires and deliver them back to the team in the paddock). Once used, tires are returned to the teams. While F1 tires are now "spec," they are still handled in much the same way as mentioned above. All tires are individually serialized, tracked, and returned to Bridgestone after use (or the race/test if the tire is not used). I am not sure about IRL Tires as I am not as familiar with the specific tires used here. But if it is similar to what CART used to do, these are just basic slicks... if you go to a race you can often just ask a crew member for a worn out tire if you have paddock access. Your best bet, for decorative purposes, would be to contact a reseller of used racing tires (just basic cantilevered slicks), and see about buying some with very little tread (or ask for a lead to buy some worn out tires from a team... they should have this kind of info since they are most likely buying scrubbed tires from here in order to resell them). Your chances of getting this kind of tire is high, while anything from the top flight of motorsports will be very unlikely.
Q:im new to driving and owning my own car! and I need new tires! I was expecting them to be like 200$ total! but I was wrong, the one I need are 146$ a tire which would bring the total up to like 560! why are tires so expensive?
The technology, design and engineering that comes with today's tires come at a price. And for good reason, tires are simply maybe the most important component of your automobile, you do not want to go cheap. However, there are many good quality budget brand tires available in the current market. If your feel the quote you were given is too high you might want to continue shopping elsewhere. What year, make and model of automobile are you driving? I am certain there is a quality budget priced tire available for you. Consider quality budget tire brands such as General, Goodrich, Hankook, Kumho, and Yokohama when selecting your tires.
Q:Which tires would be best for my 08 Buick Lucerne. I get a lot of snow in my area, so the best all season tire?
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/avCGT I've had two high-speed blowouts on a loaded cruiser. the front, believe it or not, is easier to control, if your arms are strong enough. Plus, you can use the rear brake. You can't use any brakes if the rear blows. When the rear blows, the bike slides full-lock one way, then the other. It continues to do this as you slow, ever so slowly. When you get down to 20-30mph is when it gets really bad, as that's when the tire truly goes flat and tries to walk off the rim. If it gets off the rim, it'll lock the wheel. Just stay with it and let it slow at its own rate; remember, it isn't safe until it's STOPPED. Stand on the pegs and grab the tank with your knees. Pull the clutch, so the engine doesn't fight the grip. Let the bike do what it needs to do, but stay in control, all the way to full stop.
Q:What are the best tires to have for rainy, soggy weather, ford taurus?.What makes these tires the best? What should I look for when choosing tires?
This Site Might Help You. RE: Driving In Really Rainy Weather, What Are The Best Tires?? What are the best tires to have for rainy, soggy weather, ford taurus?.What makes these tires the best? What should I look for when choosing tires?
Q:is there such a thing? such as in the james bond car? or in the movie taxi? basically tires which, if punctured, you can still drive on. fiction?
bearing could freeze up, causing the vehicle to skid out of control.
Q:How long is the shelf life of the car tire?
The following five cases need to change the tire: 1, tire wear to wear limit signs must be stopped using (that is, tread depth less than 1.6 mm). 2, tire aging. 3, tread deformation or bead damage tires, lack of air caused by sidewall was damaged rolling tires, chemical corrosion of the tire shall not continue to use. 4, drum tires can not continue to use. 5, other damage if the impact of the use of tire safety shall not continue to use.
Q:I have a 2000 Honda Elite 50cc scooter and i need new tires for it. Problem: the manual says that i need a 2.75-10-4pr tire. Checked. Obsolete tire. So. is there a way that i can try and convert the tire size to something a little more usable? I have tried looking this up, and have decided that hours of staring at things I don‘t understand was fun, but pointless. I have seen people talking about a Pirelli SL 26 tire with the specs being 90/90J/10, but i‘m not about to put a tire on my little scooter that may cause it to burst into flames or send me flying into space. (and yes, i know that nothing of the sort will happen)Any advice or knowledge would be lovely!
