Q: Will Titebond II (weatherproof) work? I have a 1928 home and am trying to duplicate one of the original exterior window sills to go on a new window. I need to glue a couple of 5/4 pieces together to get the right thickness and I want it to last. The originals have redwood but it's old growth I believe and more stable than what I can find now in redwood or DF. Correct me if I'm wrong there. Q: i am putting tile on my tub surround walls, and will be using cement board! the sheet rock that is on there is not leveled,is there a trick to make the cement board leveled and plum when i apply it??? please help: sheetrock section of your local home depot, butt-strips. Use a level and determine what studs need to be firred out to make things plumb. Make sure to put level horizontally, vertically, and diagonally, so you can get a good view of exactly what the studs are doing. They may be bowed in places and plumb in others. staple or nail the strips in place and re-check with level till it all looks good. Nail up your wonderboard with galvanized roofing nails. if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck!

Q: Two centimeters thick cement board is always cracked: Thickness is not enough, the normal playing cement board need to add pebbles or claw stone, the thickness of at least 5cm, 2cm cement board in order to not crack, inside put steel cafe, very cheap.

While kerdi is a great product, you have to do it exactly right or you can have some major problems. 1/2 wonderboard, attached with galvanized roofing nails, use fiberglass tape and thinset on the seams and the corners.

With vinyl siding, you can add a rigid foam insulation behind the siding prior to installation that will increase the R value and some high end vinly comes with a foam insulation already laminated to the back. Hardi Board makes a pre-painted siding that has a 15 year warranty on the paint job. It doesn't ding, crack, or blow off in a strong wind. Plus, it looks like authentic wood siding (but much less expensive) However, you will pay substantially more than vinyl siding. For most people it comes down to price. When given all the facts, fiber cement is by far the superior product but if its not in your budget then vinyl siding is a respectable alternative.

Q: What are the risks if we do not install cement board first, if any?: if your subfloor is a solid peice with no seams in that area and the floor itself is solid you should be ok but if there is movement your tiles and or grout could crack if it wouldnt make the tiles too high you better off using the cement board

Q: i am using cement board to cover a wood floor before laying tile. the last time i used it, i cut it with a circular saw (what a mess) dust everywhere. is there a better way??: Sorry - a jig saw would also make a mess. THere might be some sort of scoring device. I say predetermine your cuts and cut outside with a carbide circ saw. WEAR A RESPIRATOR and eye protection.
