- Q: Which Vacuum is better...bagless or canister. And I mean cleaning wise. And with Canister, do you have to buy bags? Or with either, do you need to buy anything other than the vacuum EVER?
- I personally think the canister vacs are better but its a personal choice actually. With a canister vac you will never need to buy a bag for it but filters about once a year and belts if they break, any vac you buy will come with more info about its maintenance and upkeep.
- Q: What was/is the experience like?
- never heard of it
- Q: My 7 month old is scared of vacuum cleaners. He looks terrified when we put it on and sometimes he will cry and sometimes he just stares at it with his bottom lip sticking out. what does your baby do when the vacuum cleaner is by them?
- Yes mine is 10 months old; he used to not care but around 7 months he started getting scared whenever we turned it on. he wouldn't go near it even when it was off he was so scared of it. I actually use this to my advantage haha. Before; whenever I would go into the bathroom he would follow me and try to get in the toilet; my makeup box; the toilet paper etc....I don't like closing the door when I'm doing my makeup(the bathroom is small I have to step all the way over to the bathtub to close the door) so it was argh annoying; so my husband had the bright idea one day to put the vacuum cleaner in the doorway so that he wouldn't follow me. LOL it worked; he took one look at it turned right around left. hehe now I keep the vacuum in the bathroom always put it in the doorway when doing my makeup.
- Q: I have a habit of asking weird questions, but I think it is interesting how different regions/areas of people have different ways of saying/naming things. For instance, where I'm from, we call vacuum cleaners 'sweepers' and apparently other people don't. And then there is the whole 'pop' and 'soda' difference (I stick with pop). Oh one last thing, would you call it making dinner or fixing dinner? Right, so this question is kind of vague-- but what phrases are odd to you when you visit a different area? I'm just exploring the language differences... so any discussion or anything would be interesting!
- some are vernacular and others colloquialisms. In the Midwest you'd say making dinner. In the south or southwest, fixin' dinner. We called vacuum cleaners Hoovers since they were the most popular in the 1930's. Sweepers were usually made by Bissell, and were un-powered. Lunch was dinner, and dinner was supper in Oklahoma.
- Q: Is going door to door like a cheap vacuum cleaner salesman the best way to spread the eternal word of god?
- To offer an answer to your question, I'd say going door-to-door spreading good things for others but otherwise leaving them alone is the way. Any religion that teaches otherwise seems very damaging. Do you know what a hobo is? When I was a boy, the hobos went door-to-door, looking for handouts or food or clothing. But they would WORK. They would till the garden, cut tree limbs, even repair the old screen door, then leave. They had better manners and sense than the door-to-door xtians!
- Q: Are these vacuums really as great as people say they are? Are they really the best vacuums? I've always wondered about them, I may do the 30 day trial some day, but I'd like to find out more about them first.
- I have a cheap ole Hoover from Wal Mart but if I were to spend the money, I'd seriously be looking at the Dyson vacuum with the ball. Yes Oreck is top of the line and so is Dyson, I like the idea of the maneuverability the ball on the Dyson gives.
- Q: I have 4 cats and my vacuum recently broke. It wasn't all that good with picking up cat hair anyways. Can you suggest good vacuum cleaners for cat hair under $200? The attachments aren't a big deal to me and probably would be more of a hassle. Looking for something with easy disposable and strong suction. Thanks
- Under 200? Hoover Tempo for about 65, Eureka Smartvac (you could get the airspeed bagged, but the smartvac has some nicer features) for about 120 or you could get a eureka 1934b for about $100 which will outperform both the tempo and smartvac on carpet but does not have onboard tools We've had two cats for years we have been using a Kirby which has held up for years and years but new ones are way over 200 i know you can sometimes get reconditioned models for under 200
- Q: Where are DYSON vacuum cleaners made?
- I don't know where they are made, but I can tell you that they are the best vacuum on the market! I love them and wish I had the money to buy one for myself. My old boss had one and it picked up everything off of every surface, even the dog hair. I used to love sweeping his office/house just cause I got to use the vacuum.
- Q: how is bagless an improvement over the old fashioned vacuum cleaners with bags? I hate having to deal with the filth that comes out of the bagless machines. What was wrong with the bags? Am I missing something here?
- I bought a bagless, and loved it so much I bought one for my upstairs so I didn't have to carry it up and down, and bought one for my Mom. Did I mention I threw out a $400 machine that was older, but still worked well, to get the upstairs one? Mom had a even more expensive machine, and when it broke, I replaced it with a $50 Walmart special and it picked up stuff the expensive one never had. The bagless ones have ssssssssssooooooooooo much more suction. They get fuzz out of carpet that you never even saw. And when you need to dump, it is no big deal, just replace the paper filter every year or so, maybe longer. I get not liking the dust and stuff when you dump, but I did the 'tv style test' and ran my older bagged machine and then the cheap bagless over the same area. You would not believe how much it picked up the bagged one had missed. And it wasn't even a bagged one that didn't work well, it worked as good as ever, the bagless was just better.
- Q: My two kids have asthma and doctor says we have to vacuum everyday using a vacuum cleaner that has hepa filters. We are a busy couple and currently have an old dyson that we use once a week at the most (and I doubt it has hepa filtration). My wife's friend recommended getting a robot vacuum cleaner for the job. Has anyone else used robot vacs and has good tips/suggestions? Do they do a good job cleaning? Any advice is appreciated! thanx
