Q: does any one know where to find any harvest gold bathroom tiles?? it was a color that was big in the 70‘s but it is almost impossible to find it now in stores..does anyone know of any stores or webites that sell them please let me know i need them for replacements
At one time there were a few reclamation stores that bought and sold old discontinued tile lots , but they didn t do well..You may now have to use a complementing color or just a white to replace .. If you have any tile at all I can help you tell what type and whos tile it was to get replacements to fit, since there are a couple of different sizes in the 4x4 tile ( which is what I assume you have to replace). Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GL
Q: bought home, tiles loose in shower, wonder if water damage is behind it
Tiles originally went on with an adhesive mortar and then grout. I suspect the grout fell out, and water softened the mortar and the tile fell off. Take the tile off and clean any loose mortar from behind it. Don't use the shower for a couple of days and let the area dry thoroughly. Buy some silicone adhesive that is not water soluble and re-stick the tile to the wall. Once it has been in place for 20 minutes, re-re-grout the tiles using a latex grout. Let it all dry a couple of more days and you are good to go.
Q: Im applying going for a pre apprenticeship next month and I‘m not sure which one to choose from, electrician or wall and floor tiling? I think electrician pays more but you need to be a bit smarter the I am and I‘m afraid I won‘t do well. Or I could just to.. You know tiling not that hard. I‘m from Western Australia if that helps knowing the best jobs for my state. Thank you :)
Tiling is very hard on your knees and back. I would go for the electrician job. In America heat and air conditioning pays the best by far. Good luck! Let us know what you decide.
Q: Is to use a little water can be posted on the tiles above things. Other places can also be above the glass can be posted that what is the name?
Use: the tile wipe clean, remove the water to shift the surface of the protective film, the painting completely soaked; and then painted on the tile pattern, from the back of the water will be fully scraped; Full run through, to be a minute later, move the left and right paper, if the move, the single direction of the paper to remove the smooth,
Q: it is literally burning hot have no idaea wat the problem is plzz help:). porcelain tile btw
is the basement below this bathroom?if so it could be the heat from a pot light. you would not believe the heat one throws off
Q: we had our bathroom redone, it looks great but the guy that did it got some grout on one of the decorative tiles, where it shouldn‘t be. Is there a way to get the grout off ?
It will depend on the skill of your personal observe. If you think it will look better you may try. After all it your house and the choice is yours. How it will look better you think and if necessary reinstall the tiles.
Q: I am planning on laying some tile today but not sure when it can be walked on. Also, can I lay some today and start again tomorrow? It is in a small bathroom.
You really shouldn't walk on it until you install the grout and it is dry. You will have to walk on it a little while you are grouting it but wait until it's dry to have regular traffic on the tile. Usually it's good the next day after grouting. Note: Check the tiles after you motor them down for a hollow sound when tapped on. If you have any tiles that sound hollow remove them and then reinstall them because they will crack if you don't
Q: I want to know if it‘s necessary to use any special underlayment, or any additional steps required to successfully lay ceramic tile over a wood plank floor. Thanks!
Yes you can, if in good condition. If you have hardwood over planks, then it won't move anymore than having cement board over planks will. 1.5 inches of wood in excellent condition doesn't have enough bounce to bother tile. Cement board is overkill in most jobs. And not that great of one in the first place. On the flip side, If it is not an overkill, then it probably isn't enough. Any tile that goes over the seams of the cement board, is at high risk for cracking. Tile in the center of cement board is very safe. Mine you if the joists aren't strong enough, it won't matter what the sub floor is or how many layers of cement board you have, you can't do tile. If the floor moves a 1/16th of an inch when 300 pounds is set in one spot, then you have to reinforce or replace the joists, nothing else will fix it. This is how most plank floors fail. Old floors often are built with 2x6 lumber spanning 10 feet. And then there is the new technology: Tile membranes. Cement board harden the floor so it doesn't move. Tile membranes create a floating layer for the tile to sit on. As long as the floor doesn't move more than an 1/8 at the extreme, the tile won't crack on top of a tile membrane. Tile membranes cost about 1.00 to 1.80 US dollars a square foot. The basic membrane is 1/8 of an inch thick. Due to price most tile installers have rarely or never used it, so be prepared to see skeptics. common membrane brands: Schluter?-DITRA is the favorite of TV shows like Holmes on Homes and is sold at home depot among other places. Homelux is sold at Menards
Q: Which is good for acid resistant tiles
Hao Ran acid-resistant ceramic tile is the main component of silica, the use of imported raw materials and imported color raw materials made by high temperature firing.
Q: we‘re moving into a new home that has hot pink ceremic tile as the kitchen counter top and back splash. Can we paint over the tile or do we need to remove the tile and start over with a new counter top.
You should ask a paint store about this. Normally you can paint ceramic tile with latex paint, but I don't know if it would rub off by being used on counter top. Possibly use Melamine Paint, Or Epoxy Paint...Like I said go to a paint store and ask, Or Phone.
