Q: ok so i have a power acoustik ov2-2200 amp right now and all my wires are working fine with this amp....i am going to buy a lanzar MXA282 which is more wattage (RMS)Do i need to get any new wires to hook this amp up? like the power ground or remote wires? thx... sorry for my ignorance :/
If you aare running with 4 gauge right now...your going to want to upgrade power and ground to 1/0 gauge. Your RCA should not have to be upgraded.
Q: How can I repair an enamel coated headphone wire? In other words, how can an enamel coated wire be reconnected; i.e. how is the enamel coating stripped off, and what can I use to recoat it so that it won't short?
Strip off the coating to expose bare metal where you would to slice (reconnect) new wires. Twist them or soldier them together. The wires will not short unless they come in contact with electricity-conducting materials, including human flesh. Hardware stores sells paint just for wires, but you don't have to go such extremes. Just put some tape it or cover it with any other non-conductive materials.
Q: Replaced the old fan in my bathroom (about 10 years old) with a new fan. Trouble is this. The fan and light each work on a seperate bathroom switch. I have two spots to install the wire on the new bathroom fan/light. One for the fan and one for the ligth. However, the wiring has one white, one black, one red and the ground. Anyone know what the red is? Can I just cap it off? According the bathroom fan wiring it says something about connecting red to blue. I am slighty confused. I think it was originally only wired between the white and black. I am not sure if I have to get some extra wire and connect the black and red to the light and the white to the fan? Extra wire is confusing.
the black is one switch leg and the red is the other switch leg connect black to fan and red to light and ground the green or bare wire it will work just fine and connect white to white neutral
Q: I have these subwoofers that need a bridged wire because of the amp I have. The subs have double voice coils and I need need a bridged wire from a negative on one voice coil to the positive of the other coil. Is this bridged wire just subwoofers wire? And if it is, do I use just the positive side, just the negative side, or both?
They make numerous structures that have an auxiliary port, yet you additionally can evaluate getting a cd participant that performs MP3s. this type, you do no longer could desire to stress approximately applying around which incorporates your ipod and it getting stolen. all those gamers will play a universal mp3 cd, which means each and every and each cd can carry around one hundred - one hundred and fifty songs. I certainly have had a Sony Mp3 automobile Audio participant for years and it has given me no problems.
Q: I attempted to change a bathroom fan to a new one with the help of a friend. He disconnected all the wiring without paying attention to what he was doing and what was wired where. We have a set of wires coming from somewhere (I presume the fuse box) to the fan that is hot regardless of the switch being on or off. That has a black, white and naked wire in it. Then we have another wire that comes from the switch that has black, white and naked as well. The fan has black, white and green. Can someone please tell me how to connect these as we have tried everything and the only thing that works is wired to the constant hot which of course won't allow us to turn the fan off with the switch...
You need to pull your wall switch to see how it is wired. I suspect the original wiring used the black and white on the switch itself which would make the white actually black or hot instead of neutral. If on one side of the wall switch the black wire is wired and the other the white then you need to wire the black from the fuse panel to the black going to the switch. Then the white coming from the switch to the black on the fan. The white on the fuse panel wire would be wired to the white from the fan and all grounds(bare and green) wire together.
Q: u said when i buy a jvc wiring harness one end plugs in the back of cd player and the wires coming out of that connect to the wires in car will they be the same color though? right now there is a harness already on the cd player and the wires are on it and they are pretty long i thought i just wire those wires from it to the ones in car but they diff. colors
wait wait . u must buy the wiring harness that correspond to ur car first. than u wud simply wire the new wiring harness u bought to ur deck and simply match the colors. and than u simply connect it to ur existing car harness. baaamm done .
Q: what wires connect from the vehicle to the a/f sensor
Why do u want to know what wires go to the sensor? If you have a code for the a/f sensor..99 % of the time it is an open in the sensor itself. On rare occasion there are others like a chewed wire by a rodent. But I would just recommend replacing the a/f sensor. And i u were to follow the wires from the male connector they would lead you to a big wire harness that basically just all ends up at the ECU. Just in case u wanted to know.
Q: The new light has 1 live, 1 neutral 1 earth wire, do i remove the earth connect the reds if so what about the 2 blacks?
Its quite simple really you dont. If the fitting in question has a requirement for an earth connection ie its made of metal then it requires an earth to be fitted. If there are no earths at your light fittings then you have have very old wiring and should be considering having a rewire as you are way out of date. As to the wiring you have at the ceiling now one of the reds is the live feed and assuming its twin cable and not single the black wire of the same cable is the neutral and the other 2 wires go to and come back from the switch, trick now is which is which.
Q: I'm trying to hook up my second phone line. I have a red, green and yellow wire in the cable, but no black wire. Is there a reason for this? And what can I do to get the second line up and running? thx
the wire you have is designed for 1 line only. Back in the day the yellow wire was used to carry ground because ground was necessary for old circuits. Ground is no longer needed so in order to get two lines you need at least a two pair wire (meaning four wires) you might have to run a new wire unfortunately or just keep that one and run another to separate jack.
Q: can you use your existing phone line jacks and wire, then convert the jacks to lan to network computers or printers?
A phone jack, also called CAT3, usually has only two physical wires attached at the jack for a single line phone, 4 wires attached if a two line jack. It is meant to carry voice traffic from a standard telephone. The jack itself is called an RJ11 and usually has only four pins. A modern day LAN jack, also called CAT5, has eight wires physically connected to a wider jack called an RJ45. This is the standard wiring for Ethernet (even though only four of the wires are really used). When you are talking about the patch cord, the wire you use to connect a PC or phone to the wall, the Ethernet cord has eight wires and the phone cord has 4 wires inside the insulating jacket. The standard Ethernet used by PCs cannot use existing phone wiring for networking. However, there is special hardware you can buy to allow computers to communicate using standard phone wiring. But his has limited functionality, less range and slower speed than standard Ethernet. If you want to use this wiring for long term networking, I would invest in CAT5 wiring. For a few drops, it runs around $100 per jack. The other option is to buy a wireless router and use that to network your PCs.
