Q:i dont think that the water pump is out. i have a 88 evinrude outboard and the other day i noticed that the water was barley trickling out the hose. then it just stopped coming out the hose. it still comes out of the exhaust just fine. the motor is not get hot. is it ok if it still comes out the exhaust/ i will attemp to run a wire up in the hose to see if it is clogged later today. what do yous think
i use air pressure, but a piece of wire usually works.you may try to back flush it with a water hose.
Q:I put the new water pump in and the metal tube that goes to the heater hose it is hitting the wheel that holds the 3 belts that goes onto the water pump. why is it doing that. got the right pump. I have a 1986 firebird V6. any ideas?

Q:can you replace a water pump gasket without replacing the whole water pump?
Of course you can they are two seperate items. Obviously you have to remove the pump to remove the gasket. Just make sure that the pump is in good condition, and use a little gasket silicone on the gasket. Dont overdo it with the silicone, just a thin smear on each side. Also make sure all traces of the old gasket are carefully removed from the pump and the block face. Any dirt or old gasket remnants left will cause a leak, so double check before replacing the pump to its position. Cheers

Q:Whats the difference between a faulty water pump and head gasket? The coolant reservoir has a quot;bubblingeffect when the car is running. I just changed the radiator and filled it. Most of whats in the radiator is water honestly. The car sounds a little rough and sputtery like a head gasket. The spark plugs are dry and I took the cover off and nothing looked watery or moisturous. I also had to change the head and head gasket a month ago. The head gasket didn't have any damage to it so I assumed the head was bad. I used a new head gasket also. Anything else I can check? The car is a 91 corolla.

To understand the working of a hand pump, you have to understand the working of a basic pump. Pumps work by creating a difference in pressure ( in this case of water). A sort of vacuum is created at the top of the pipe while water is present at the lower end. There is a difference in pressure hence water rushes to the top-end of the pump from where we get water. Q:I have a 99 Olds Intrigue With the 3.8L (Vin K) engine. I have a belt driven water pump, but i was wondering if there is a fuse or relay that is associated with this water pump. I remember knocking a fuse out on accident while changing my radiator and now the water pump appears to not be working
First no fuse for water pump only fuse and relay for rad. fan. First did you install serpentine belt correctly, should have diagram on rad. cover. If on right pump should work. if overheating could have bad thermostat or system needs bleeding, start, turn on heater and see if top hose on rad gets hot if not therm bad, replace, if hot look on top of thermostat housing for small bleeder screw crack open until coolant comes out then tighten,on some if there is a heater line on engine by radiator bleeder is on it. keep rad cap on till done, then remove slowly to release pressure and fill with coolant , GOOD luck.
Q:i have an underground water tank, my jet pump went out again, got a new one, waiting for the guy to come install it. i got an old fashioned iron hand pump, for when the electric, or the pump goes out again, i can pump out water. got pipes, fittings, foot valve. i just dont know what kind of base to make ,to bolt pump to, over the pipe that will come out of the ground. any ideas?
you can make a wooden floor cover using a treated good lumber of 1 X 6 for the floor and 2 X 6 lumber for the floor joist. assemble the 2X6 lumber for the floor joist. depending on the top area of your water tank. arrange the floor joist at 0.60 meter spacing and 1.2 meter braces. after that, use 1X6 lumber as flooring with at least 2 cm spacing between lumber. as on the base of your pump, you can reinforce it by adding 2X6 braces. use a lug bolt depending on the size of the slot at the base of your pump then bolt it on top of the 1X6 flooring. its better if we can draw it here to make it easier to understand and explain i dont know if this can help much because we havent seen the actual situation of your tank and your pump.
