- No they don't all have the same power cable. The older ones required more power, the newer ones (two different versions) brought the power down so it wouldn't over heat so much. Where to buy them? Maybe online? Maybe some used video game store might have some?

- No, the PS3 is a 3 prong outlet cable, and the PS2 is 2 prong. Also the end that plugs into the console is different for both. You can use a PC power cord for the PS3 if needed, the ends are the same.

I have a kink in the cable around that point, but don't know if cutting it and soldering is an option, depending on how complicated that part of the cable is. - in addition to what ed said. if you drill through a firewall or bulkhead install a grommet or use a piece of rubber tubing [hose] to protect the wire. also make sure that where you drill,nothing is behind it. ruining your evaporator or heater core normally means that the dash will have to come out for repairs on most cars ,nothing cheap here.and pinching cable around a hinge or other movable part is begging for a fire. i see this sort of crap all the time and i wonder how these owners get up and down the road without hurting someone or themselves. take your time and don't cheap the job out, most cases another twenty minutes and 5.00 dollars of parts would have resulted in a solid installation instead of a burned out hulk.
