Application

Q:hi can some 1 help me? my problem is my harddrive just stops working its happend twice now.so i unpluged the sata power lead from the hard drive and from the power supply plugged it all back in and worked fine for months and today it happend again so i did the same thing and all is good again.so could my lead be dodgey or could it be my harddrive.if it is my lead where can i buy a proper multi sata power from thanx.: first of all do you have another sata power connector you can plug into the hard drive? if you do then try that. or do you have a spare sata drive you can plug into the current power adaptor? if the drive functions correctly from the change in power adapters or the spare drive has issues your power supply may be bad. otherwise you may want to contact the manufacture of the hard drive and do a warranty replacement. or just buy a new hard drive. chances are your hard drive is going to fail on you. either that or make sure the connection is secure and don't hit your pc Note if your optical drive is sata as well swap the connections from drive to drive and see if your disk drive acts up instead of your hard drive.

Q:Have a 480 volts 3 phase 16 amp motor. Need 400 ft of extention cord. Is is OK to use a SOOW 10/4 cable, the voltage drop is 2.67%(12 volts). Machine is powerd by a generator that I can run at 500 volts to counter the voltage drop.8/4 cable cost twice as much, but the voltage drop is 1.7%(8 volts).: The only thing about SOOW is that the insulation is only rated for 600 volts, and the peak voltage of a 480 volt RMS system is 678 Volts. The peak-to-peak voltage is 1386 volts, and two adjacent phases will see a maximum potential difference of almost 800 volts This will be unsafe -- the insulation might breakdown (even though that 600 V is a conservative rating). Two adjacent phase cables will provide for 1200 volts rated total insulation and that is more than the phase-to-phase max of almost 800 volts, so you could take a chance, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for the wire size -- 10 gauge wire is definitely large enough to handle 16 amps. 12-gauge wire would even be sufficient, especially since you can compensate for the voltage loss. But, stick with the 10 gauge anyway, for a larger margin. You need cable that is rated for higher voltage. .

Your devices should have a 4 pin connector for the molex so you really don't need the converter plug, as either way you only use one power plug. Don't use both (serial power connection 4 pin molex on one device) and there should be a warning label on the device that says the same.

Q:I am installing a sound system in my car straight from scratch. I have built the subwoofer enclosure but now I have run into a problem. The existing amplifier power cable is too short to reach my amp. As for the SATA...if it is a SATA hard drive, you'll want a SATA motherboard. Almost all modern motherboards have these connections. If yours doesn't, I'd imagine it's just old...or really cheap.

Assuming the network has been set up correctly you can try a few things. It might be the sequence of switching things on and logging on. Try logging onto your computer AFTER printer is switched on. Also you can try not logging onto the network - I have had that work as well. I had 2 computers on a network that were always temperamental. Also check there are not too many users on the network, the printer can count as one user.
