Q: I just replaced my starter on my mustang and i when i took it out for a test drive i noticed the engine temperature rising. i drove for maybe 2 minutes max and when i parked the car it had a small amount of white smoke coming out of the engine so i let it cool down, and when it cooled down i checked the radiator, it had absolutely no anti-freeze, which is weird because i had just put a gallon of 50-50 anti-freeze maybe a week ago. So to test it i put 3 cups of water in the radiator turned her on and water was spilling from the water pump. So me and my dad have concluded we have to replace the water pump. I called up Autozone and they have a water pump replacement kit for $70. We don't have money too pay for the labor so can some1 please give me a step by step guide to replacing the water pump.: Drain the engine cooling system. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Loosen water pump pulley bolts. Remove the accessory drive belt. Remove the water pump pulley. Remove the upper and lower radiator hose. Remove the heater hose. Remove the 12 attaching bolt and remove the water pump. Clean and inspect gasket mating surfaces. To install: Install the water pump. Use a new gasket and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Install the heater hose. Install the upper and lower radiator hose. Install the water pump pulley. Install the accessory drive belt. Install water pump pulley bolts. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Fill the cooling system. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

Q: I was was wondering how to calculate the head flow rate from a water pump. The water pump outputs 2 bar, which means that it will push water up to 20m in height. It also has a throughput of 2000 litres per hour.I want to pump water up to my loft, which is approx 15m above the pump.What will the flow rate be at this height? Is it a linear calculation of percentage of drop from maximum head height multiplied by the flow rate, (eg 5/20 * 2000 = 500 litres per hour?), or is it more complicated than that?: If your pump has more capacity than you need, you can always restrict the discharge and create extra artificial head.

Here is how to do it..If there is fluid to be pumped there is sometimes a controller that will ask the pump to stop when it reaches low level . And again ON when it senses high level. Find this device, if one exists and either defeat it mechanically or wire around it electrically.Either is pretty simple. NOW that i have told you how to get it to run all the time. I though I might mention a timer..A timer, in series with your pump, will cut it off and give the liquid level a chance to rise as well. Timers can be defeated the same as all other protective devices,, My question is Are you sure this is what you want to do ? The plug on the end of the cord ,it must be a small pump if only 2 amps, should be your only control .If it has an auto off feature it's there to save your pump from burning the barn down ,so to speak, Why not take another look at your application. if you do have an endless fluid supply ,like a closed loop trickling fountain, remember those evaporate if make up water is not added. Q: i have just bought a coachman 1994 wanderer but water pump do`snt work,there are 3 wires to pump socket inside the van,white,red,yellow,only the white was fitted and reads 12v to earth,the other 2 read 6v to earth, any help as I cant find a wiring diagram on net !: you say the water pump.? or is something Al's? water pomp do not have wires it may have the sending unit for the tap riches on but the pomp is totally mechanical unit. the pomp is running by a belt to simulate the water and cool the engine, all batteries have 2 pols or an top or at the side you must remove both pols. it Sims to me that you have no technical knowledge on cars atoll. before you destroyed the van, give it to a mechanic to check it.

You do not have to take the radiator out, just be careful not to ''poke'' any holes in it.

If you have any ideas, thoughts, solutions, diagrams, etc. please? thanks: your question is not clear, do you need to build the pump from scratch or you should find one? what is the water flow rate? how high the water need to go? what the helmet has to do with the problem? simplest solution will be to go to the store and buy small hand pump (for fuel).
