Q: I wired an outdoor lamp-post. I tested it before wiring it to the fuse box...and if I touch the lamp-post I feel the current (a slight shock). I will be using a ground fault breaker....so I assume if I wire it to that I am going to loose the connection. Any thoughts on what is wrong?: In addition to the answer Paul gave, check the wiring that the white wire is the neutral or common wire and that it goes to the shell side of the lamp holder. A few years ago, I had a similar problem, when all of the checks were made, the panel was wired with the black wires on the neutral buss. Hence all of the devices were wired backwards. Call a qualified professional electrician to do the work.

Q: I'd like to know what quot;wiremeans when it refers to computers. Is it the computer itself or the Internet?: Wire is an old term. Way back in the day, many many moons ago, in the day of cowboys and Indians, there was an invention called the telegraph. Telegraphs are connected (or network as we say nowaday) by electrical wires. News and latest info are sent to the telegraphs through these wires. The postmaster received the latest info and breaking news from out of town through this contraption. He then handed the info over to the writers and said: This just came over the wire! or This just came across the wire! So through the years, over the wire and across the wire meant: The latest breaking news or info just published or broadcasted.

Q: ok so i have a power acoustik ov2-2200 amp right now and all my wires are working fine with this amp....i am going to buy a lanzar MXA282 which is more wattage (RMS)Do i need to get any new wires to hook this amp up? like the power ground or remote wires? thx... sorry for my ignorance :/: As long as you are using a good strong gauge wire(4 gauge or lower) then No. That is also assuming your just wanting to swich amps out not add on. Just unhook the old amp and put the new one in it place long as your wires or good to go.

Q: I have a '78 jeep cj7 with points type ignition, I was wanting someone to explain exactly how to wire up the coil, starting with the 3 wires from the ignition switch.: HI use a test light.. hook it up to ground and turn the ignition on. one wire should be hot that goes to the + of the coil. then have someone turn the switch to start (I'd disconnect the wire from the solenoid to the starter so it don't turn ) the test the other two wires one of them should be hot now. that also go the the + of the coil. The last wire well go to the - side of the coil.. You may ask why to hot wires to the coil... one only supplies like 5 to 9 volts to the coil which is all that is needed to run the motor. The other supplies a full 12 volts which is needed for start up only. good luck Tim

Q: how do you connect two copper wires together: You could try solder. I usually just twist them together and then cover them with electrical tape, although, I guess that's not the proper way.

Q: Hello,I'm trying to replace my old ceiling fan with a new one but i can't seem to figure out the wiring.I have three wires coming out of the ceiling: 1) Two white ones that were connected together when the old ceiling fan was installed2) A grey wireI have four wires in the new fan:1) Black2) Black and White (would connect with the black based on the instructions)3) Green Grounding4) WhiteCan you help me figure out the connections. Thanks!: the two connected means a continous circut. Means it goes to something else. Tie the two blacks, from the fan with the grey. Your fan must have a light. And the white to the white. Your just compleating the circut. Cant really mess it up. green is ground ofc

Q: My starter I replaced has 3 wires, two red and one black. Where does each wire go? Pictures would be very helpful if possible: The First red wire goes to the solenoid on the fender well right by the battery. the second red wire goes from the solenoid to the starter on the one main post there. the black wire goes from the engine block to the battery on the negative side. All connections must be tight but not not crushing on the battery

Also i relie heavily on the 800 help line number.Some ac men will put different colors on the wrong terminals, put a sticker on the unit and when there is trouble, they will call him,if all the wires were black and he knowes where they go, you see. A trusted ac man would be a great help,and remember, you're checking at the wall, not at the unit where the signals are not being recieved correctly, the thermostat is the brain, and one more thing, you are on the right track, because a progamable thermostat can save you a lot of money especiall if you're gone a lot.

Q: One wire has part of the plastic coating on the end, the other wire does not.: the lead is the wires showing. lead wire can also mean attaching a wire and feed it through a wall attach other end to the wire and pull it through. Now if you need both ends to have wire showing take a utility knife firmly place wire on block of wood and lightly cut through the caseing. thats the thick wire that en cases the other wires and peal back and then cut it off. then carefully hold blade of utility knife and wire aganst your thumb on a 45 degrees away from you and pull that will strip the plastic off the wires hope that answers your question dave
