Q:Hi I have a ceiling fan/light to put up but after taking down the original rose, I am now unsure how to wire the existing wiring into the ceiling fan the wiring is a s follows:block 1 Live empty, red, red, block 2 loop all empty, block 3 neutral empty, black, blackthe connections on the fan are live neutral and earthGrateful for any help
In America its black to black, the whites bus, and green to ground. However, this is for a 115vac circuit. If its 250vac things change and you might want to hire an electrician.
Q:im installing lights in my car and it says i need a 12v wire. can i use somthing more then a 12v wire? im hooking it right from my battery. what other wires can i use?
If it says 12 volt wire, it just means you need to supply the lights with 12 volts. Depending on how much power the lights pull, will depend on how thick the wire should be. If it is saying to use 12 gauge wire, well, then use some 12 gauge wire.
Q:wic iring codes for turner plus three wired to uniden washington cb radio
I love wiring questions :) do you want to use the PTT? If yes you can assume it is a switch and solder it inline with the lead the other end (after the switch would be connected to the lead end of the 1/4 if you have a pigtail 1/4 then this would be the insulated wire, the ground would simply connect to the uninsulated wire if you are actually using a do it yourself 1/4 plug then the same rules apply only you are soldering to the terminal inside the plug sleeve rather then to bare wires (I always prefer this its cleaner). Please Note: The PTT switch will cause a loud pop when it is engaged and released on a Hi Gain guitar amp and sometimes this can damage the speakers as well as delicate internal components so do this of coarse at your own risk.
Q:so im lost in how i should wire my subs. I have two subs that i need to wire both are 2 ohms 400 watts i don't know if i should wire them parallel or series if you can help me out that would be great!
usually all sub wiring is the same, youll have the rca cables and antenna wire comming from the radio to the amp, power and ground wire going from amp to battery and ground, and than should have 2 wires coming off each sub to the amp, im guessing thatd be parallel, if you wire in series, so like use 2 wires and splice off to each sub, so 2 wires off the amp powering each sub you would up the ohms and put a too much of a load on the amp, people only wire in series when they have too many subs and not enough outlets on the amp, good luck
Q:So Ive never done wiring for my car, But my friends are willing to talk me through it. But the next time I can talk to them is next week and they kept telling me to tap into wires. but What does that mean? like, what does it mean to quot;tapinto the wires?
What are you trying to add?
Q:I am replacing an electrical outlet that currently has 3 white and 3 black wires plus the ground wire. The bad outlet has 3 holes already in it for each of the wires but my new outlet does not, there are only 2 holes and/or the 2 screw on each side. How do I install this new outlet? Do I need to do the pigtail here?
=== the back side wire holes are for 14 gauge wire and the screws hold the 12 gauge wire and the green screws are for the ground wires == if all six [6] wires are in the wall and are not jumpers then you may be dealing with two separate circuits on two di
Q:it still has the harness but im not sure which wires are what and its a 14 pin connector
are u getting a new radio?'
Q:I recently bought a stereo for my truck. What is a good average gage for a ground wire? Speaker wire? Power wire? Last but not least a speaker control (remote) wire? If it helps, I am running a 760 watt pioneer amp on two 12 inch subs. Thanks
It depends on the size of the amplifier. Recommended wire size should be no less than 10 gauge wire for power and ground. 4 or 8 Gauge power wire you need 4 or 8 gauge ground wire . Speaker wire depends on the speaker. Door speakers should use14-16 gauage speaker wire. Subwoofers should use no less than 12 Gauge speaker wire. Remote wire doesn't need to be big at all use can use 16-18 gauge wire for the installation.
Q:Is high quality CAT-5 ok to wire surround sound speakers to the receiver?
Get some 16 gauge speaker wire. If you are going more than say 40 feet go with 14 gauge. DONT BUY NAME BRAND CABLE!!! It is BS. Google it and you will find scientific tests showing there is no audible diference between a 50 cent a foot wire and a 3 dollar a foot cable. As long as you use a low enough gauge wire you will not lose any sound quality. BTW if you use cat5 it will probably catch on fire so unless you hate your house don't use that.
Q:Our house ground wire is very long but our live and natural wires are very short. Once there was a surge in our telephone line system and both my Belkin Surge Protectors seemed to have not stopped it. The surge was stopped at my last protector when its sensitive fuse blew (it was a 10 ohm resistor fuse). Is it possible that since the natural wire is shorter than the ground wire the surge wantted to go through my PC and into the natural wire? Or is it just because the 10 ohm resistor fuse was a bit too sensitive or something? (Well it didn't blow up when there was no lightning outside)I'm thinking of making my natural wire longer by extending it so a surge finds the ground wire more attractive, is this advice able?
Check and make sure its grounded properly,if your in a high surge area look into a surge meter from your electricity company.Peace of mind,no need for buying surge protectors and wishing they work.Any lose will be insured by electric company.
