Just disconnect the (-) negative cable from the battery and wait twenty seconds. What you are doing is resetting the computer. However, I must advise you that you don't want to do that too many times because sooner that you think that check engine light won't reset any longer. There is something wrong with your emissions system go and have it read at an auto parts store and they can tell you want code it is reading. Best of luck!

You can forget it. While Kodak, Benq, Vivitar and GE are truly bad, just about anything in that price-range is barely adequate for video in daylight - their small sensors just can't cope with anything lower.

Q:Last week I had a tail light out and was checking fuses before I tried switching bulbs. When I pulled a 10 amp fuse the dash display went black. The fuse was ok, so I put it back in. But after I put it back the check engine light stayed on and has been lit since. Is there really a problem with the exhaust system or is there a way to reset the display?

The service engine light means you have an engine problem. You'll want to have the truck scanned to see what it is. Many auto parts chain stores will do this for free though they can't do a more in depth scan like a Ford dealer could. The light doesn't have to be on when they do it. When it comes on it sets a history code in the computer which is what they will read. The ABS light is indicating a fault in you anti-lock brake system. Usually not serious, you will still have brakes, but their anti-locking (anti skid) capability is disabled while the warning light is on. Parts stores may or may not be able to read the ABS codes, not all code scanners are equal. But if they'll scan for free, it doesn't hurt to ask. Cheap ones won't read all system codes. ABS problems are NOT related to engine problems, just your brakes. Write down the codes they find or ask for a printout if they can make one. Then you'll have to decide what you are going to about the problems found. Good luck, and I hope they are easy and cheap to fix.

Q:Just curious. I see the auto flush toilets and urinals (red blinky light where the flush handle used to be) quite a bit nowadays. How does the auto flush mechanism get its power? Is there just a battery or two in there? I don‘t see any electric running to them.

The system is typically a low voltage about 12 volts ac, that runs the sensor and the flush solenoid. The wires are run in the decorative trim to a low voltage connection point much the same as a doorbell.

That's strictly a toy, I'm afraid, however attractive. Auto-steering cars will come eventually but for safety reasons, not so much for economy or congestion ones. 100 dead a day on American roads. A twin towers casualty list each and every month. But for transportation improvement, the attack will have to come on several fronts: More people working from home: internet/ VR More people working closer to where they live / living closer to where they work. Residential areas patchworked with business and industrial ones. Cleaner and more efficient transport: rapid transit light rail systems as well as cars getting 50+ miles to the gallon. (I've got one in mind, when my old car packs up. over 50 mpg out of town, 40 in town, and it's not a diesel or a hybrid.)

Q:I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX 2 Dr. it has cruise control *the guy at the auto parts store asked, so I thought that might matter* and it is a 4 cyl. I am getting ready to sell it, the guy buying it wanted to take it to a mechanic to have it looked over, I agreed. At the end of the inspection, the mechanic said that everything was great except my brake lights didn‘t work. All the brake lights are out. I assumed it was the fuse, as did my BF.but after checking I don‘t see a brake light fuse. I really don‘t want to have to go through each fuse. My brother is mechanically inclined, and said it seems more likely to be the brake light switch as he checked the fuses he thought it was. So what does everyone else think? Check the bulb. If it is burnt out replace it, there are two elements in them, one for signaling the other for brakes. If this does not correct the problem check bulb socket for corrosion and the wires leading to the sockets to make sure they are connected. I suspect you have a loose wire or connector check the trunk for wires on the back of the light assembly. These maybe contained in the side wall assembly. This would require you to remove the light lens and look at the connectors in behind them! Most Jobbers (folks who do auto work as a hobbie or auto wreckers or brothers who are mechanically inclined etc.) can fix this relatively cheep! Hope this helps. Of course see if you can get it your self first but if you get stuck try the above idea! Also if your the hands on type ask if they would mind you observing for future reference, but be sure to respect there space so they can do their work. There is nothing worse then having a critic hanging over your shoulder when your working.

Evap emmision system detecting a leak, they said fuel cap cause often they are not tightened correctly to where a click is heard. Simply enough replace it have the ecm code cleared and see if it returns there may be a leak in the system elsewhere which you will need a smoke machine, that plugs into the Evap system to locate the leak
