The reason you can't successfully change the wheel sizes is that if you do, you throw off the alignment of the wheels, causing one or more of the wheels to lose contact with the floor/surface you are skating on. The durameter scale for wheel hardness goes something like this: Indoor wheels: 78A to 82A Outdoor wheels: 84A to 90A and above. The durameter should be stamped on the wheel along with size.
