Q: We just bought a nice silk rug from a wholesaler, and its 8x11. Since we bought it, it has been shedding like crazy. Is it normal? And how can you tell if it is handmade or machine-made? We bought it for $350.
Are you sure its silk? A real silk rug machine made in 8 x 11 will be over $1000. Handmade more like $3000 to $30,000. Its more sounds like a mercerized cotton rug. They look about the same. The cotton rug shedds more. Is there a label on the back of the rug with any infomation. Manufacture ? Country of manufacture? Any information will help to track it down. Post it and I will help. Two easy tests: rubb the rug with the palm of you hand, if it feels warm it may be silk. cool its cotton or rayon. One of the best tests is the burn test. Pull a piece of the yarn from the face. Just one will never be missed. Burn it, smells like burning hair, silk. smells like plastic, rayon. Smells like cloth, cotton. Also real silk is very, very strong. Cotton and rayon are must weaker.
Q: well? will it be able to keep the door shut on carpets?
yes it will at the proper size it's physics
Q: Do you need skirting line for bedroom carpeting?
The ceramic baseboard is divided into: glazed tiles and baseboard skirting line, if you choose the baseboard of ceramic material, generally recommended skirting line selection and brick material as appropriate, such as the choice of the antique brick, can consider the baseboard of glazed tiles, if there is a choice can consider, Bohuazhuan baseboard, wood and stone skirting line replacement is widely used in PS polymer, the flagship high-end and mid price effect.
Q: I am redoing a room. Should it be painted before new carpeting? I want the baseboards nicely painted. Just not sure what should be done first.
Paint Or New Carpet First
Q: I tried steaming my carpet with a Rug Doctor, and it didn't work, so I bought a Bissell Proheat. I wanted to use up all the cleaner that I bought for the Rug Doctor before I purchase Bissell carpet shampoo for my new cleaner. The shampoo for the Rug Doctor says it's compatible with all carpet cleaning machines, but the Proheat manual says only to use the Bissell products. I'm a little confused here. Should I use the Rug Doctor shampoo or not?
This Site Might Help You. RE: Can I use any carpet shampoo with my Bissell Proheat? I tried steaming my carpet with a Rug Doctor, and it didn't work, so I bought a Bissell Proheat. Q: Crawling in an one my carpet how to get rid?
The ants are just passing by on the carpet- there's a nest just outside your house somewhere. For the room, vacuum up he ants and then sprinkle diaotomaceous earth on the rug and floor, and vacuum up a little of that to kill the ants in the vacuum - and then empty the canister. For the rest of them, either put a 50/50 mixture of sugar and Borax by the tablespoonful every 4 feet along the top of your foundation ledge inside the basement, or get some premise spray for outside. Make sure if you put out Borax, it's not accessible to kids or dogs - it's toxic. Otherwise, the ants will take it back to the nest thinking it's food, and the nest will be killed off.
Q: 2 days ago our carpet started leaking. None of our pluming goes underneath it which amazes us. We have no money for plumbers or anyone to check on it. We do have a water heater next to it but its in ground. and we check on it every 2 days and there are no leaks leading to it.
I really hate to tell you this but it sounds to me like a broken pipe under your floor. It can be broken fifteen-twenty feet away, but if the room that has the wet carpet is the lowest point of your house, that is where it will settle. That happened to us. One of those real old clay 4 inch pipes used when the house was built, broke in two. Another thing that can damage your pipes big time is liquid drain openers. Throughout the years we lived in this house, my husband continued to use those products against my warnings. The Drains opened up all right...Sixty feet of them! It dissolved the bottom half of the pipes completely away. That cost us seven thousand dollars and a months worth of jack hammering, repair guys, and headaches. You really need to check it before it runs into tons of money to repair. You could also call your water company to come out and check their meter. The meter tells if there is a water leak somewhere. Who knows, it could be the city's broken pipe and it is settling onto your carpet.
Q: I'm looking to hang about door size carpet pieces on my closet walls [don't ask why] and was wondering a good adhesive to use or if I should just use nails?
Or, use a 'rod' (i.e. 'dowel rods') through the top of the 'turned over' top piece of the carpet and hang it up with ribbon or cord attached to the rod and then drill your wall and put a screw or two in and hang the ribbon off that! You could use ribbon or cord to match the colour of your room? Hope this helps:)
Q: i kno its not good to use on carpet, but techniquelly, dont clorox wipes still disenfect the carpet they are used on?
I use Clorox wipes on carpet in my home and they clean a stain beautifully. Yes they disinfect any area they clean. Maybe not all the way through to the bad though. If you do use on carpet test an inconspicuous spot to make sure the carpet is colorfast.
Q: Hello, I need to replace a small piece of short piled light beige carpet, therefore, can anyone recommend a transparent non clumping glue? Thank you for taking the time to help me!
Ugh carpet glue or any glue is the worst and it will never stay. Unless this is a room you dont care much for then just use some standard loctite in a cream glue. otherwise there are ways to iron and stich a new patch in and it looks and blends right into the carpet.
