Q: I heard the wind turbines, solar panels so far provide America with around 2% of our energy. So since liberals appear to want to replace natural energy with man made products, that cause massive pollution by the way to make- How long will that take 30 years, 00 years? How many Wind Turbines will Airplanes and birds and parachute jumpers smash into, isn't that a problem? How do we rid of natural energy before we have the LIBERAL BACK UP PLAN - WE DON'T REALLY HAVE ? How do they think this is gonna work? Its not logical, we need to come up with more ideas! That Battery idea kinda sucks since Batteries Need natural energy to work.
Green technology at this stage is not viable for the long run...we don't have the technology as of yet to replace all other modes of energy...Windmill Farms are EXTREMELY ugly and kills thousands of birds and only work when the wind is actually blowing...solar is not ready for prime time, too expensive for the average joe...we should be pursuing other engines that would use less gasoline and some exist but nobody is promoting those because they are convinced electric cars are the way to go but those are a farce because we don't generate enough electricity now for homes to use, can you imagine how little we would have if all cars starting using that same energy? IT is a farce that during an economic crisis the current powers that be are wasting money on green technology garbage that won't work. We should be figuring out how to drill our own oil and get off foreign sources and build more plants to produce more electricity, not figure out how to use the little electricity we currently produce in all our vehicles...Liberals...what a concept.
Q: Hi. I have been looking into getting solar panals but I only want them for one room. See, we're expanding the house by adding a basement, the basement isn't going to be that big but we wanted to have solar energy for the basement only. Could anyone give me a rough estimate on the cost of solar panals for my basement?
If you're really planning on solar energy, don't waste it on your own consumption. The Hydro company pays you for the energy you put back into the grid....the strange thing is, you buy the power back for less than you sold it, so you actually profit on the power you make! look into this. I wired a nice house for a doctor, and although I didnt supply the solar system, I learned of this concept there. The guy who installed her system charged her around $40,000.00 and the system would never be able to run any large portion of their home. They, of course sold the energy to the utility.
Q: I want to install a solar panel system and our power grid can't work in reverse(so it get its electricity from us). My question is how do you prevent electricity from our panel to go to the grid without disconnecting the grid? How can we also use the grid and the panel at the same time when the panel are not creating enough power?PS dont say ask an electrician
If you are grid-tied, then a standard solar electric system will always feed back into the grid if you are not utilizing more power in your home than is being generated by the solar panels and inverter system. It is possible that a grid isolation device designed to prevent direct back feeding is available, but haven't heard of one in common use. New laws in most areas of the US are now mandating that utilities allow grid-tied alternative energy systems. Double-check you local laws. Sometimes you can't take the utilities word for truth--most will automatically say 'no' and will only relent when you show up with the law in hand. Unfortunately, some utilities have figured out another way to shut down alternative energy pioneers--they demand multimillion dollar insurance policies covering damage that their equipment could sustain from your little PV system. Technically, they are still in compliance with the law, they just make it impossible for a homeowner to meet their requirements. If you are getting the runaround, go to your state representative for help. It's amazing how contrite those utility people can be when a state senator (or even US Senator) has just sent a letter asking them why they are stonewalling a law-abiding and well-meaning citizen. Good luck, and don't give up!
Q: Can solar panels be installed on factories or industrial buildings?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on factories or industrial buildings. In fact, it is quite common for large-scale solar installations to be implemented on such structures, as they often have expansive rooftops or open spaces suitable for maximizing solar energy generation. Installing solar panels on factories or industrial buildings can help offset power consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and provide a sustainable source of energy for these facilities.
Q: I recently got into solar panels, I have little background in electronics but I have done a little electrical work in the past and just want to make a small 36 cell panel to power a 2v battery that would run my a small tv (9 inch) and PS3 for a few hours every night. I have been looking up on how to do it before I get in over my head and I have a few questions.... After you solder all of the cells together then what? Do you hook all of the rows of cells together somehow? Can you connect them straight to a battery? After you hook to the battery do you hook up a power inverter to get the 2 AC plugs that would be needed? Thanks in advance for any help....
I'll add a few comments to Teelo's It may not be good to connect the assembled solar cells directly to the battery. When there is no sun I think it will drain the battery. I'm pretty sure all circuits I have seen have a reverse polarity diode in series. (unless Teelo knows for sure). Hmmm Reminds me that I have some bare solar cell elements from when Motorola was making them. I used some to power a small radio controlled car. I do know that all good applications have a regulator to make sure the charging is done properly
Q: Can solar panels be installed on restaurants or hotels?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on restaurants or hotels. In fact, many restaurants and hotels have been adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to reduce their carbon footprint and electricity bills. Installing solar panels on rooftops or in parking lots can generate clean energy, helping these establishments become more environmentally friendly while also saving money on electricity expenses.
Q: Can solar panels be used to power a military base?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a military base. Solar power can provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy for various operations and facilities in a military base, reducing dependency on traditional energy sources and enhancing their efficiency and resilience.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on shopping malls or retail centers?
Yes, solar panels can definitely be installed on shopping malls or retail centers. In fact, many shopping malls and retail centers across the world have already embraced solar energy as a sustainable solution for their energy needs. Installing solar panels on these commercial buildings not only helps reduce their carbon footprint but also provides long-term cost savings through reduced electricity bills. Additionally, solar panels on shopping malls can serve as a visible example of environmental responsibility, inspiring others to adopt renewable energy solutions.
Q: Looking to install solar panels in my house.
Wholesale prices for BP solar panels range between $335 for the 40 watts panel to $835 for the 70 watts panel. Here's a brief listing of wholesale prices for BP solar models: - BP340J solar panel (40 watts) @ $335 - BP350J solar panel (50 watts) @ $37 - BP375J solar panel (80 watts) @ $504 Right now I'm getting a series of 50 watt (7.5 volts) panels installed in my house. It's a start to reduce dependence on electricity bills and try get some tax rebates as well.
Q: I mean when light hits the solar panel where does the energy go and what does it become? Be specific.
Energy is conserved, meaning that no energy is lost. It has to go somewhere. So for solar panels, the main energy is electricity. The current that is produced by all of those silicon wafers is usually stored in DC batteries. Some of the energy from the sun is transferred into heat. Perhaps a Mechanical Engineer can better answer if any very minute expansion occurs from the sun. I would guess negligible.
