Q:I am not recommending it, I am interested in the logistics.
Oil is sometimes used to generate electrical power. Diesel generators are quite common, but they are also getting very expensive to operate. The process has been used for decades. There has to be something else we can use to power our civilization as the oil will not last forevermaybe for the next 50 to 75 years at best. Solar and wind power have come along way, but we still have a long way to go.

Home made electricity from a generator is more expensive than that from a supplier. They get huge bulk discount on fuel and their equipment is way more efficientt. But, and this is quite a big but. if you also use a heat exchanger on the exhaust and use the engine cooling system to heat your house, you win hands down. Think of it as either sightly more expensive electricity and free heating, or slightly more tricky heating and free electricity.

You need kilowatts, not kilowatt hours. The amount of power you need varies depending on who turns on what at any given time, and especially on what kind of equipment you are using in the mine. Mines can use huge amounts of electric power. Assuming you are talking about a fairly small mine, you are probably looking at something around 500 kilowatts peak demand. This would require a small power plant. You may be able to get a diesel generator this size, but it would be more efficient to use several smaller generators. This would allow you to shut down some generators to vary the output to meet the varying demand.

Yes you can run a computer on a generator. I would recommend that you use a stabilizer and a ups together with it to safeguard against any fluctuation in voltage and not lose your work if at any time it fails. Wish you all the best.
Q:I want to buy a portable generator for power-outages and need some advice on which to buy. I want to run: at least one refrigerator possibly a stand-alone freezerbasic lightinga few outlets a sum-pump. A 5000 watt generator will normally supply most of what you need, a 3500 will give a little more trouble with overloads, but will be quieter wihen not loaded. That Yamaha is a nice generator, if your the type that drives a MB S-Class, if you drive a Ford, you may want to be looking at a $700 Generac brand generator, fuel consumption will vary with load, but running at near capacity will burn a tank (5 gallons) of fuel in 8 hours, the higher the consumption of a generator he bigger the tank they put on. May want to check to see if Fridge and freezer are on opposite legs of your 240V service. FYI: Many electrical panel companies now make bolt in transfer switches to make any circuit in your house available to a generator rather than a gentran that just allows a few circuits

I'm assuming by trip you mean shut down/off Plenty of reasons: 1) overheat, most common cause, could be lost water pump or water supply or cooling lines plugged 2) electrical, although diesel does not use sparkplugs there are electrical components. There are glow plugs that get the whole process started when cold, there is a starter motor that gets it all going and there is some method to keep the fuel warm enough to flow correctly 3) Starve for fuel, either fuel ran out, to low temp so its sludge 4) Loss of oil pressure that is used for lubrication 5) Ouput limits, there will be an overcurrent/overvoltage system regulating the output of he generator and if it gets really out of wack then it will kill the whole thing to prevent damage to everything That's all I can think of right now

Q:How does a throttle actuator/control for a generator know to increase decrease throttle based on electrical current demand?I’m thinking of building a DC generator using a diesel engine and a PMAC motor but am confused as to how I will vary the engine speed automatically to meet the varying current demand. eir if you sense the current load by a line resistance of perhaps 0.1 ohm, you can increase or decrease the RPM of the generator as the current rises and falls
