Q:I have taken off the fan, and radiator, and ect, and i'm down to this silver circle thing-the fan clutch i believe and black circualr piece that connects to the actual water pump. I need help getting the quot;fan clutchoff. I tried using a wrench and wrenching on this peice between that and the black piece, but i cant stop the black piece from moving. I tried this site called pelican or w.e, but they dont tell u how to do that. I'm stuck, plz help!: Usually there is a notch, slot, or hole in the housing into which you can insert a screw driver or punch to prevent it from turning and then you can use the wrench on the bolts.

Q:This is a brand new water pump and we used plenty of gasket maker. Does this year of f150 need the back plate that comes on the water pump?: I doubt it. It's almost certainly the gasket.

Q:I have replaced my water heater and water pump because the owner before me didnt drain it over the winter... but know the water suputers when the pump is on.. when I hook up to city water it works great.. Can't I just put Engine Coolant in and not have to quot;flushwhatever is supposed to be flushed?Thank you in advance for your help.: you are talking of many hundreds if not 1000 dollars of work,,,dont worry about the 8 dollar thermostate and 20 dollar flush...in fact the valves may be bent up or head gasget blown....if that engine has 100.000 to 150K miles a bebuilt is the way to go...

Q:Hey for the past month my car has been leaking coolant, making a wierd noise when i drive it, and saying low coolant when its filled to the top.my husband took it out to get gas this morning and it stopped on him and had to be towed to the mechanicthe mechanic said its the water pump and somethin about anti freeze and this cost almost 300 bucks with parts and laborim just wanting to know if a water pump does indeed cause issues like this before we dish out this kinda money!!! btw its a 96 chevy luminathanks: Yes, most certainly. Sounds like the mechanic knows what he or she is doing and the cost is reasonable. You'd be smart to get a coolant drain and refill after he installs the new pump. Antifreeze should be changed every 2 to 3 years at most.
