- You will probably need a razor floor scraper that may be purchased at Home Depot. One is made by Qep. It's about $30 but well worth it. If the floor is wood, you don't want to use this, use a wedge scraper. If the floor is concrete, use the razor, fill any chips with floor leveling compound. When complete, re-floor.
- Q:Installed laminate flooring in my kitchen and in the spring and fall when temperature changes floor makes cracking sound when walked on. Was told weight of cabinets keeping floor from expanding and contracting. Can it be fixed without ripping out cabinets?
- You don t specify if the counters are on top the floor or if the flooring is just to tight to the cabinets. Either way thats a possible problem but not incurable. Go yo the nearest rental store and get what they call a toe kick saw. This will cut the laminate away from the cabinet weather its under the cabinets or just to tight.You may have to use a spacer to keep the saw away from the toe kick by the 1/4 needed or just cutting them may be enough to allow the expantion.. - Q:What can be used to mop wax floors in-between waxes? My employees and I are having a hard time finding a cleaner that won't ruin the surface. For now, we are using just hot water and a mop but the water always leaves marks and doesn't seem to really do any. It just seems to make it dirtier. Any suggestions?
- Try okorder / Some of the Mop and Glo products used to be sold in department and grocery stores too, but I haven't looked for it for a long time since my home is mostly carpeted.

- They make paints for concrete that basically stain the floor. Some even coat it for protection. Especially good for outdoor porches etc. Just ask for it at any Home Depot or Lowe's store. It comes in most colors.

- Sorry, it's been a while since I've done floor & ceiling, but I believe that these functions take a number and either round it down to the integer (floor) or round it up. ie: floor would take 2.1, 2.4, 2.7, 2.9 and make them all equal to 2, and ceiling would make all of those numbers equal to 3. Only difference is if it is an even integer, than it stays that integer. The way I see it, there are NO numbers that satisfy the first one. This is because the floor function automatically lowers a number (takes 3.4 and makes it 3, or also takes -1.4 and makes it -2) so if you add .5 to it, it is automatically going to be higher. If x was 2.3, floor (x) = 2, but 2.3 +.5 = 2.8. These aren't equal For the Ceiling function, it is every integer that ends in .5. IE: say x=1.5. Ceiling (1.5) = 2, and 1.5 + .5 =2 - They are equal. Similarly, if x= - 2.5, Ceiling (-2.5)= -2, and -2.5 + .5 = -2. - they are equal. So I guess the way you'd say it is that the answer is i+.5 where i is the set of all integers. Something like that. - Q:We bought a house with laminate flooring and were told by a "professional" in a "certain flooring department" that laminate floors such as Pergo were "indestructable". Now, not even 6 months into living in our new home, we have a scratch. Does anyone know how we can fix it, hide it, etc. without replacing the whole floor?
- Try scrubbing with a little soap & water. Use one of the sponges with the traditional sponge on one side and the green abrasive stuff on the other. If that doesn't work you could either try a little paint thinner or call the maker - Pergo; Wilsonart; et al and ask them what to do and what warrenty coverage may be available. Worst case scenario, I believe the dealers have experts that can come and replace a single board. But it's probably expensive. Good luck.
- Q:I have sub-floors in my condo and want to put in a hardwood floor and replace the interior doors. Should I install the new doors first before the new floor, or, the floors first then the doors? Thanks, M
- Does not matter. Just so you have a sample of the wood for the door installer. It will be a little safer to do the doors fist. Just in case the door person drops any thing. But it does not matter. The wood floor installer will have a jam saw to cut the door trim. The only thing you can not do is to have both installer there at the same time
