Q:I'm building an ion accelerator which is based off of an ion generator and a coilgun. The ion generator is complete, but I'm looking for a good power supply for the coilgun portion's electromagnet. What is a good sized capacitor bank for this type of application, aiming for extremely short but powerful bursts. Also, is there a good online store to find cheap high capacitance capacitors?

Ion accelerators usually work off DC, not from a capacitor bank. What energy and current are you looking for in your ion beam? I think that you need to do a LOT more design work on the ion generator. What kind of ion source are you going to use, and what is its current density and brightness? If you want a pulsed high current beam, how are you going to source all those ions? Edit:- How can you possibly hope to get 1.65 amps of ions? Ion sources generally run in the microamp range. Just because the current is available from the supply, that doesn't mean that your ion source will consume it, i am afraid. BTW if you COULD make a pulsed ion source this intense, the military would be very interested - such a source could greatly increase the power of an atomic bomb!

Q:Can a small scale wind generator power enough batteries to power a 5 ton air conditioner? And if it can, how large of a battery bank would I need, and would a 220 power converter be good enough.

gee, kind'a hard to tell. is there any wind? how strong? all day? or just part of the day? what do you consider a small scale wind generator? does your AC use 110 or 220 power? (it might uses both. although 5 ton isn't all that large.) where are you going to put this? how are you going to anchor it? is it allowed where you live? are you going to have an alternate power source for when there is no wind? in which case, have you looked at what it takes to hook up to the power grid? maybe you ought to talk to someone around where you live about this.

Q:I have a four 6 volts deep cycle battery bank arranged to output 12 volts powering a 12 volt power inverter. The inverter has its own built-in charger as the electricity comes and goes where I live. So far so good. In case there is a power failure for, say, two days. Can I use my car to charge the battery bank? I'm thinking about using jump cables. How long will it take for the alternator to fully charge the four batteries?

Yes, this will work with the jump cables. How long it takes depends on the size of the batteries and the current that your alternator can deliver.

Capacitor banks are used to compensate inductive loads such as motors. So capacitors are included when power factor reduces (high inductive load)and are switched off as power factor increases. The capacitors should not overcompensate. Briefly banks are used for variable capacitances.

Q:Use mobile power products, need to pay attention to several issues?

Power factor correction and harmonic filtering can be combined in harmonic trap designs. Any power factor correction capacitors in a system that has harmonic distortion may need to have tuning reactors added to prevent harmonic resonance and excess harmonic currents in the capacitors.

Q:I see in Article 1 Section 8 that they have the power to coin money and establish value thereof. I would assume that would include bills of credit as well until I read Article 1 Section 10. It denies the states the power to coin money and it also denies them the power to emit bills of credit. So it has made it very clear that coin money and emit bills of credit are different powers of government. But wait, where does it say that bills of credit can NOT be emitted by the Federal Government? O shoot the 10th amendment forbids the Federal Government from taking any action that is not authorized by the Constitution and its Amendments.Now I understand that the Supreme Court does not interpret it like this.
