Q:I'm looking to buy one, but don't see any quality reviews, so let's see what the yahoosers say.
i bought a bissell from wal mart, i think it was 169, a heated power steamer or something like that. i've used it several times (not because it did a bad job the first time, i just have 3 dogs and DETEST pet hair everywhere) anyway, it does an excellent job getting rid of the pet hair, you just have to make sure and clean the brush and bottom of the steamer each time you use it so it doesnt' clog. but anyway, my overall experience is that it did well to clean my old carpets (they were here when we moved in) it dries quickly, it didn't leave a musty wet smell, and it's fast and easy to use. hope that helps
Q:Can anyone tell me which upright vacuum cleaners were rated top 10 in Consumers Report for 2007? Thanks!
I don't take much stock in consumer Reports evaluations. they seem biased to low end or mid range items, which I think are junk.
Q:I cannot afford a dyson vacuum. Would like to spend under $100.00
Hoover, Eureka, Shopvac all have options in that price range.
Q:I am unfamiliar with vacuum cleaner brands or even if vacuum cleaners work on concrete flooring. Basically I am looking for something that will get all the dust and dirt up without having to mop every other week.
Dirt Devil- you will have to get on your hands and knees but it's great. I have tile so I understand about the sweeping and mopping it really sucks. I actually just got mine about two weeks ago and it rocks my world. Not too pricey either
Q:Iam supposed to do costing for a modification that we are doing for a hand held vacuum cleaner, the modification is an retractable arm.I want to know how are hand held vacuum cleaners manufactured, (forging, extrusion, injection molding??) What would be the cost??Any help thanks
Look at the hand held vacuums they have in the store. If the housing is plastic, it is a 99.99% chance it is injection molded. If it is made of metal it could be extruded if it has a constant cross section along its length. Aluminum is a very common extrusion metal. I would doubt any high volume hand vac would have a forged housing, but I don't get out that much. Casting and machining is a possibility. As far as costs, it all depends on the life of the tool, and the number of cavities for a mold or a casting. If you mold/cast one part at a time it is much more expensive than two or four or eight. The more you mold at once, the bigger the molding/casting machine and the more expensive the mold/casting. So it depends on how many you want to make in a given amount of time, and how many through the life of the product. Finally, for your modification, do you have a design with drawings and a volume target? That is the first step to figuring out costs.
Q:I hate vacuum cleaners because they're so loud and I'm sensitive to loud noises.
My central vac is very quiet. The unit is in the garage. I don't know how easily you can install one in a home that isn't being built.
Q:I know that 'commercial' refers to business applications, so I'm not looking for general information but details). Are the terms used in accordance with industry standards, or are they unique to each company? One company, Aerus LLC (formerly Electrolux Corporation), mentioned that the only differences between its commercial and household vacuum cleaners is that the former have less warranty protection, have longer cords, and do not feature above the floor attachments or headlights. Nothing was said about construction materials being different.
Ask more relevant questions like what is the duty cycle and what is the mean time between failure. Motors heat up. A motor designed for intermittent use will overheat and burn out if used continuously. An industrial grade motor can be run 25/7.
Q:How to repair the vibration lever of vacuum cleaner?
To remove the vibration lever, remove the lower cover and flange and pull the brush out of the housing
Q:There are many other things in our houses that make a racket, and the dogs and kitties are alright with them, but, drag out the Hoover, and, wow!, it's as if you were coming after them with a chainsaw. Why is this?
Probably because the vacuum is bigger than them, it's close to the floor, and they feel the loud noise is something trying to attack them. My cat is scared of my vacuum too. I play a little chasing him, but I don't really bother him with it. Sometimes, animals aren't scared, because they know you control the vacuum, and you won't hurt them. Krazy Libra
Q:I have gone through three vacuum cleaners in the last 6 months because I vacuum all the time(3 children and one dog).I really want a vacuum that sucks up the dirt well as well as pet hair and can clean the stairs well.
I also work for a vacuum shop, and I would agree with the other person above about not going bagless. The hair will definitly clog the filters faster and makes for a real dirty mess. I honestly think it will be hard to find a good quality vacuum in that price range that will last. All vacuums are stong and pick up at first. The Dyson is horrible, simply put. Very heavy, clog often and noone wants to repair them. The Dirt Devil company has made better vacuums as of late, but I would would recommend a Sanitaire vacuum which will give you more longevity and eventually you will want to get a canister. Sanitaire vacuums are made for commercal use, but can be used in residential settings and are very strong and just above your price range. You can check out the source below to read up on these vacuums and compare prices.
