Q: This is the type of stopper you push down/pull up to drain or keep water in the sink. I,ve pulled,pushed & twisted, it wont come loose to drain. its stuck in the drain, wont drain.: More force fixes everything.

Q: My husband was installing our new bathroom vanity after recent flood damage and the cabinet was just a bit too wide to slide into the spot. So he decided instead of sanding the drywall down he just cut it out. Now I have a 2 inch large hole in the drywall all around the sink and the sink protrudes a bit into the drywall. Not a huge problem except that we have to put a back splash back up around the sink to replace the existing we took out and I have nothing to adhere it to. I was told to get the mesh drywall patch and joint compound and just patch it but the sink still protrudes and I have nothing to really secure the patch to. I cant pull the cabinet out either because he already hooked up the water lines/plumbing. Help!: Just put the backsplash over the hole. The backsplash is maybe 4 inches tall? Use some strong construction adhesive on the top part and a small bead on the countertop.

Q: Water takes forever to go down the drain, and weve tried draino and vinegar and baking soda, which neither worked. We cant snake because the damn stopper doesnt come out. What else can we do?: The damn stopper DOES come out. Get under the sink and find where the drain pipe comes down. Shortly below the bottom of the sink, there will be a nut that goes around a shaft. The shaft reaches back to a rod which goes straight up through the back of the sink. That's the stopper control. Undo how the rod attaches to the shaft. Undo the nut holding the shaft in the pipe. Remove the shaft. Now you can undo the big nuts holding the drain pipe together, remove the P trap at the bottom of the pipe and get all that gunk out of there. NOTE: have a big bowl or something under where you're working, there's likely to be some water spillage as a result of this. ALSO: you're going to want some latex gloves on for this. It can get pretty nasty in that pipe. DON'T FORGET: you'll be able to see what you're doing in the P trap but also reach as high up inside the straight pipe both going into the sink and into the wall and fish out every bit that you can. I do this a couple times a year on my sink. Takes fifteen minutes if everything goes wrong. It's easy.

Q: My girlfriend and I recently moved into a house that we recently purchased. The bathroom sink is extremely clogged...to the point that a decent strength snake cannot begin to break through. The clogging is probably a long standing build up of hair, etc. Is there a liquid that can eat through it perhaps or maybe something better than a metal snake that will clear it?
