- Q:I have hot water radiant heat in a concrete slab that leaks occasionally so I can‘t put carpet on it. Do I dare put ceramic tile over it? Maybe the tile would keep the moisture down.
- You could I would do some research though you need to make sure its not a water soluble adhesive and that the ceramic tile wont get super hot. I know that ceramic is very hard and it should stand up. I am not sure about the adhesive though you would have to ask someone about that. Some one at like Lowe's or home depot should be able to tell you that though. Lay some of the tile out and let it sit on the floor see if it is the best material to use for tile and if it holds the heat like you want it to.

- Q:Im going to put tile floors in my home, and working on a budget so i cant spend too much. question is I am undecided regarding the color, i found a brownish color tile kinda like sienna not to dark 16x16 and another beige with cream and is glossy with a design etch on it really nice, but in a 12x12 i think. anyway, i really like the sienna color for the living room, kitchen, foyer and hallway, but i dont think it would look right in the bathroom, i like the beige for the bath. i have a very small bathroom so wold it look weird to have two diffrent tiles in a home? i plan to paint my living room in a grayish blue color french blue i think its called with white trim but still undecided in bathroom i really need some advise on this so if anyone knows please help
- Go with your 16 Sienna. The fewer grout lines will give the room a less interrupted appearance. I also prefer not having too many flooring choices--makes the floor-plan look choppy. For the bathroom color try a blue either 1 shade lighter or darker than the living room. Most paint stores can even add some black or white to darken or lighten the paint after you have used it in the living room.

The tile is going to be in the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. Also, how much is it going to cost me for labor to lay down the tile? Total square feet is going to be around 600 sq ft.
- Both can be equally good or bad. Porcelain is usually a harder bodied tile than a ceramic. Overall you ll get a more consistent sizing w/ porcelains. Most all porcelains now are a glazed porcelain as opposed to the real good color thru out bodied porcelains.You ll have to see a tile to fully under stand the difference. What you need to do is compare apples to apples as far as the ratings(0-4). Using a 3/4 rated tile only in the house. This is a slip resistance rating.Then there is tinsel strength ( breakage) . And last is ohms or scratch resistance. Get the fact sand do some comparison shopping. As far as the labor, it can run from3-5$ a s/f depending on the area you live in. This won t include setting materials ( thin sets , grouts, cement board if needed) These are taxable items and each jobs vary as you may or may not need the cement board if your on a slab floor for example. In fact, most leases nowadays have clauses that repairs under $250 are the responsibility of the tenant. I know that's how my lease reads. As for being deserving of matching tiles, only you can answer that. If you are a nit-picky tenant who gets angry about everything and complains on YA, your landlord might not think so.
