Q: in the Open Boat by Stephen Crane, in part IV why are the characters not identified?
The characters are defined by their roles on the boat. Their previous experiences or personalities don't matter here. It is just the narrow repetitive experience of rowing and how they each contribute to it. Each character is Everyman, being thrown around by the merciless, indifferent hand of Fate. I think that Crane was squarely in the company of Naturalists (they think there's no such thing as individual agency, like Darwinism in fiction). The interesting thing to think about here is that one character has a name - Billie, the oiler. Why is this? He's the strongest, he's the most experienced and he's the one that dies. He's an individual to the reader but Fate doesn't care. I'm sure you can flesh the ideas out now.
Q: i want to go to school and learn to operate over head cranes
No. they can't chew human beings. The lengthy pointy bit on the lower back isn't a sting both. it truly is an ovipositor, designed to allow the Crane fly to position her eggs in the soil. The eggs hatch out into leather-depending Jackets, gray grubs who devour the roots of grass. once you spot starlings and different birds on a backyard poking bout into the floor, it truly is what they're searching for, effective tasty leather-depending Jackets. leather-depending Jackets make the grass of a backyard pass yellow, and die. they're pests, notwithstanding the Crane fly is purely tense even as it comes interior.
Q: what is the crane track base ?
Assuming mechanical I suppose that is the size of the area of the two tracks on a crawler type crane. The tracks or treads are similar to those on a tank or bulldozer. One track covers a rectangle in contact with the ground. Both tracks are spread apart, parallel and form some kind of rectangular (length x width) base area for the crane.
Q: I read the book and thought of a theory... I think that the headless horseman is just and alter ego Brom Bones alter ego and he wanted to kill Brom Bones for his beloved Katrina Van Tassel... I want to hear your opinions and theories possibly involving what you think Katrina said to Ichabod during the party. That would be nice thank you.
For the best answers, search on this site Seeing as there are no other answers so far, I thought I'd write what I know :) I've never read the legend and the film may have a different ending, but in the film Ichabod returns to New York. x
Q: The story I'm writing that has Frank Crane in it is here. Is there a better name I could be using for the protagonist?
I just read your skimmed through your story very quickly. His personality from what I got from the story seemed to fit the name Frank Crane very well. I like the name for that character. Not sure what other name options you have in mind though, maybe you should post some other naming options. BTW, cool story.
Q: I have tried so many times to make that crane, and i always fail. Can anyone give me a video that is really good, or instructions that are really good and have pics? Thanks in advance!

Q: heres a picture of one
There are a few types. Some more modern cranes jack themselves up and then back down after wards. There is a large mis-conception about tower cranes. Many people think they can handle larger loads than portable jib cranes. This is not the case. The advantage of a tower crane is its cost and ability to see. The ones that are not capable of jacking themselves up are erected and taken down by large jib cranes with many times the lifting capacity and cost.
Q: i have a 100 ton american crawler crane. how do i calculate the psf, for this equipment.
Not sure what you are asking exactly... Are you saying that you have a crane with a capacity of 100 tons and you want to know the pressure on the soil where the crane is positioned? In this case, you take the capacity (in pounds) plus the weight of the crane (in pounds) then divide their sum by the area of the tracks on the crane (in square feet). This will result in pounds per square foot or psf as you wrote above. These are example estimates, they may not be anywhere near the correct answer, this is simply how to do the calculation. Assumed Capacity 100 ton = 200,000 lbs. Assumed Weight 105 ton = 210,000 lbs. Assumed Area of Track = 200 square feet Note: 1 U.S. ton = 2,000 pounds = 2,000 lbs. 410,000 lbs / 200 square feet = 2,050 psf There's a start, now you just need to find out how much it actually weighs and how long and wide the tracks are to get the area of the track on the ground. I hope that answers the question you were asking.
Q: Just curious... I'm not in construction and always wondered...
The top sections of the mast beneath the crane are removed one at a time and lowered to the ground. The top section of the crane has hydraulic rams that lower it down one mast section at a time. It is hard to describe without a diagram or photos. See photos at attached link. In some design, the jacking portion is at ground level. The crane jacks itself up so a 20' section of the mast can be unbolted and slide out. Then the jack is lowered so the process can be repeated. See second link for photos and a more detailed explanation.
Q: I want this as a tattoo but I want to know what it means. Why type of tree is it? What do the symbols translate into?
