- Q:Just curious... I'm not in construction and always wondered...
- The top sections of the mast beneath the crane are removed one at a time and lowered to the ground. The top section of the crane has hydraulic rams that lower it down one mast section at a time. It is hard to describe without a diagram or photos. See photos at attached link. In some design, the jacking portion is at ground level. The crane jacks itself up so a 20' section of the mast can be unbolted and slide out. Then the jack is lowered so the process can be repeated. See second link for photos and a more detailed explanation.
- Q:There are a range of cranes to be selected for a particular type of job. Please provide any suitable method so that we narrow down our selection criteria .
- What is the load weight? How high is the lift? Obstruction, possibly needing a jib? If you are placing a load onto a roof, how far from the edge of the roof is the load going to be placed? How far from the crane pivot is the load on the ground and how far are you going to to move the load away from the crane to place it in position? How close can you get the crane to the load and to the load placement site. The usual scenario is to call a crane outfit and they will ask you these questions over the phone or come to the site and discuss the lift with you. A crane is rated for maximum lift as close, usually 10 feet,to the cab pivot center. As the distance increases, the maximum load that can be lifted, decreases. Our 15 ton crane can pick 15 tons/ 30,000 pounds at 10 feet from pivot center. With the boom fully extended; the boom is 100 feet, at a 30 degree angle, it can pick up only 5,000 pounds. Inside of every crane cab should be a chart that shows the lift capacity at various boom angles and boom lengths. Also is included is a chart for the Jib, if the crane has one. Wingman

- Q:What kind of force acting in the brake system which encounter the lifting material force and to maintain its level.
- Cranes work using hydraulics and cables. The cables are wrapped around pulleys and the pulley is turned using hydraulic power. The brake system is simply stopping the pulley from turning by reducing power. The hydraulic system typically will turn a series of gears which in turn spins the pulley that the cable is wrapped around. It's different than a brake system say on a car where when you hit the brakes, pads squeeze on the interior of the wheel rim slowing it down. Cranes you just reduce power and stop the pulley from turning. They also have emergency stops. Older cranes have wedges that would be released onto the cable and then the wedges would grab the cable and slip into a ring. The narrow end of the wedges would slip into the ring first and then as the wedges increased in diameter the grip on the cable would get tighter and then stop the cable from moving. They also have systems on the pulleys to stop the pulley from spinning. They essentially work the same way as a car break. When the emergency brake is triggered, pads will squeeze on the rim of the pulley to stop it. These mechanisms work by friction. They could also have holes around the pulley and a steel pin would be pushed into one of the holes to stop it from spinning. Of course if the force of the weight exceeded the strength of the pin, it would shear.

- This species breeds in arctic Russia in Yakutia and western Siberia. It is a long distance migrant. - i have it for console but what you do with that is this. When he does a big slam after chasing you make sure he does it in the cement area, then go to the crane and it cutscenes to you hurting him. Then you will follow him some more to a car shop. He throws cars at you, when he does a big slam sparks from his back disappear (they were caused by the crane) jump on his back and keep smashing him till he falls on his back, then just repeat that and watch a cutscene of his defeat.

- You made a statement, you will like to crane (an) operator. Which operator is it you are going to like to crane? If you mean would you like to operate a crane, that is up to you. If you mean can you be a crane operator, that is up to an employer. You need to be employed as one, and that probably means training and experience before being allowed to operate cranes for him/ her.
