Q:so this summer im thinking just for fun me and my friend should make chairs. so im thinking what this project will cost me. and also i have NO tools other then like a screw driver probly. so im wondering all together how much am i looking at and also plz list all the tools and there prices as well.: Chairs are ambitious projects for a beginner. They must be both engineered and built well so they withstand use and designed well so they look and feel nice. To add to the complications, most chairs have no square joints. I think you'd better consider another project.

Q:How do you upholster a wing back chair? how difficult is it? how many yards of fabric? what kind of (cheaper) fabric should i use?: I'm new to the upholster game but the best fabric is they heavy ones with that plastic like backing. it's water/spill proof and very easy to cut. now i would lay the fabric on the chair. cut it to size, leaving room for sewing ..i'd say an inch. pin it in place inside out and they sew. now most fabric stores have a chart that has picture diagram on how much you need for whatever kinda chair. I would add 5 yards to that being you're a beginner. Never have too much but OMG if you don't have enough. Good luck!

Q:The front leg of a metal, stackable chair collapsed under me when I sat on it. What are the metal tolerances which might or could have been lacking which made the chair leg so weak?: It is unlikely that the chair collapsed solely based on your weight. Chairs are designed to take compressive forces. They are not designed to be tilted where compressive forces would favour a single leg of the chair. My suspicion is that this chair was subjected to this improper usage either while you were using it or before you were using it. In any case, the chair would have to have been damaged or improperly used in order for it to collapse. The other possibility is that your weight exceeded the maximum allowable load rating of the chair.

Q:We have 4 kitchen, cantilever chairs that are getting weak (drooping when people sit in them) we want to figure out a way that we can keep them longer as they are no longer available, from the company, to be replaced.Personally, I would just like some new chairs but my husband really wants to save these. Is there really a way to do it without compromising the style of the chair?: Tell hubby that you are afraid someone is going to either sit on a chair and fall out or it will break when they sit in it and they will sue you for not changing the chairs when you noticed that they were beyond their useful life. If you don't mind being sued then perhaps you might at least be concerned about not harming visitors. With respect to repairing them it is a little difficult to tell at a distance as I don't know what you like about them. I could tell you to cut off the bases and put legs on them but this does not immediately sound like it would be acceptable.
