- Q: Didnt solar panels use to cost around $250,000 5 years ago?
- I okorder to register for free and lock in long term costs. The increasing demand and competition is helping reduce costs.
- Q: Can solar panels be leased or financed?
- Yes, solar panels can be leased or financed. Many solar companies offer leasing options where the panels are installed on your property and you pay a monthly fee for their use. Alternatively, solar panels can also be financed through loans or financing programs, allowing you to purchase and own them over time while making affordable monthly payments.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on historic homes or buildings?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on historic homes or buildings. However, it is important to consider the specific regulations and guidelines in place for historic preservation in each jurisdiction. In some cases, there may be restrictions on the placement and design of solar panels to ensure they do not detract from the historical integrity of the property. It is advisable to consult with preservation authorities or experts to determine the feasibility and appropriate approach for solar panel installation on historic structures.
- Q: How much does it cost to replace a solar panel?
- The cost to replace a solar panel can vary depending on factors such as the type, size, and quality of the panel, as well as any additional installation costs. On average, the cost can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per panel. It is recommended to consult with a professional solar installer or company for an accurate estimate based on your specific needs.
- Q: (For a project)I know they are made of silicon, but I want to EVERYTHING they are made of. Ex Metal (What kind)Please tell me everything used from their production to the finished projectThank you
- Well i am not sure but to my knowledge all i know is that the purpose is to save solar cells which are later created into energy Solar energy is generated from solar panels. Solar panels are slabs of semi-conductor metal. Technically speaking, they are a slab of silicon semi-conductor doped or added with impurities to make it a better conductor. Solar panels could also be made of Gallium Arsenide which is a semi-conductor metal exclusively used in photo-voltaic cells. The silicon slabs are polished and glossed before doping. After processing, for protection, a thin glass layer is embossed on the solar cells slab. Silicon also is shiny and reflects about 35% of sunlight. Hence, an anti-reflective coating is usually applied over the slabs to reduce the amount of sunlight lost. Amorphous silicon solar panels are different from the traditional ones made from silicon slabs. Amorphous silicon solar cells are thinner and more efficient that the silicon ones and also the materials cost of this variety is far lesser than the traditional. Amorphous silicon slabs are developed with superior processes which makes them less susceptible to breakage during transportation. This makes them a more viable investment when it comes to buying solar panels.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on parking lots?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on parking lots. In fact, parking lots can provide ample space for the installation of solar panels, making use of the otherwise unused area. This not only generates clean and renewable energy but can also provide shade for vehicles, reducing the need for air conditioning and promoting sustainability.
- Q: could any tell me what type off panel is the best tube or flat and how much it should be. I live in N Ireland
- My solar thermal installation uses a 30-tube NAVITRON panel. This has an effective area of 2m2 and produces enough hot water in summer for 3 showers and plenty of washing up! I estimate that, in it's first year, it has saved me about ?60 in gas. The panels and prices are shown in the attached link. Mine was fitted by a professional installer for ?2500, including a huge, new cylinder (dual coil) to store the extra hot water. Flat panels are much less efficient than vacuum tube collectors. While flat panels are frequently cheaper, these Navitron panels are such good value that I think buying inferior, flat panels would be a false economy.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a church or religious building?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a church or religious building. In fact, many religious institutions have embraced solar energy as a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to meet their energy needs. Installing solar panels on these buildings not only helps them reduce their carbon footprint but also promotes a message of stewardship and responsibility towards the planet.
- Q: The colder a solar panel gets the more efficient it seems to be. As the panel warms, it loses some efficiency. Why is this so? Please explain in a way you would expect a high school kid to understand it, as I am a high-schooler and i have to explain this to other high-schoolers.
- All PV Solar Panels are affected by heat. The hotter the solar panel, the lower the power output - but how significant is the effect. I decided to test one of our small 6V 250mA Solar Panels to find out. Solar Panel next to halogen lamp with temperature probe. Reproducing the kind of temperatures solar panels experience in hot climates is not easy on a cloudy May day in the UK, so a 50 Watt halogen office lamp was used at a distance of 55mm from the solar panel as a sun substitute. This guaranteed a constant level of light would be incident upon the solar panel ensuring the quality of the results collected.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed in areas with high levels of saltwater exposure?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed in areas with high levels of saltwater exposure. However, it is important to choose solar panels that are specifically designed to withstand such conditions. These panels are typically made with corrosion-resistant materials and undergo rigorous testing to ensure durability in marine environments. Regular maintenance and cleaning may also be required to prevent salt buildup and optimize performance.
