Q: What is the difference b/w them which one is better .
In the practical sense, the differences are trivial. I'd buy on price per watt, unless space is at a premium (it isn't for most installations).
Q: I live in Sacramento, CA, and I need some solar panels for a project fo school. They don't have to be very big......just something that I can use as an example. Thanks!
If they're just to be used as an example, go around your neighborhood, and find a yard with solar yard lights. Then ask the owner whether you might borrow one or two. If they say no, move on and find another house. I'm pretty sure someone will say yes, after you explain what it's for. They will trust you, because you could have just stolen the lights, but instead asked. Option B is to have your parents take you to Fry's Electronics, and purchase a solar item, like a motion detector light, or even a standalone solar panel. As long as you don't mess up the box, you should be able to return it later for credit. But that's borderline dishonest, because you never intended to keep the merchandise.
Q: What direction do solar panels usually point? North? East? South? West?
The general answer is toward the equator, so south when the array is north of the Tropic of Cancer, and north when south of the Tropic of Capricorn. In the equatorial zone, one would often still point towards the equator, but other factors such as wanting the panels to efficiently drain rain and dew come into play. But wait, not so fast. Financial considerations dominate in some areas. When afternoon electricity costs more than morning electricity, it may pay to have panels oriented southwest in the northern hemisphere. Where electricity costs the same all day long, it may pay to orient the panels southeast, to harvest more in the morning, when temperatures are cooler, and the panels are more efficient. For solar hot water, SW is usually optimal in the northern hemisphere, because of higher ambient temperatures, and also the usage pattern of most people using the hot water when they get home in the evening. A local installer that has been around for several years will know what orientation is optimal for your area.
Q: Can you please tell me how much a solar panel costs? Please back up your info with a website.
If okorder /.. Low-cost crystalline panel manufacturers such as Suntech are believed to have costs in the $.50/watt range today - making it $300 for a 200-watt panel. That doesn't mean that one can buy a panel for that price, of course. If you mean a DIY panel from purchased solar cells, the cost would be closer to $360 for an equivalent-powered panel, not counting the price of the frame, and the labor. A homebuilt panel would not stand up to decades of weather unless one spent even more on the frame. And since such a panel would not have safety certification, it could not legally be connected to the grid in most places. If you meant a water heating panel, please update or post another question - I'm sure people will chime in.
Q: 260 watt solar panels on an rv?
There are many other controllers, you just need to get a sense for the limitations and make sure you are working within them. Controllers are not that hard to hook up, two connections simply go to the battery, plus and minus. Then the other two go to your panel. I like to put a switch at the panel output, leave it off while you are hooking up the panel side wiring of the controller, then when you are sure everything is connected properly, and you have some kind of battery power indicatioon at the controller, throw on the panel switch and see if it is charging. Remember that a panel is a power source, and connecting it to the controller while it is in the sun is like hooking up a car headlight while the lights are turned on. Another option is to wrap the panel in a blanket and put it in the shade while you are connecting it up. Your panel has a max amp rating, Imax, which will likely be around 5 or 6 amps at that voltage and wattage. Number 4 romex will work for that, as well as medium duty AC extension cord wire, if your run is less than 30 feet or so. Take care Steven, Rudydoo
Q: Can solar panels be used to power a greenhouse?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a greenhouse. Solar panels produce electricity by converting sunlight into energy, which can then be used to power various devices and systems, including heating, cooling, lighting, and ventilation in a greenhouse. This renewable energy source helps reduce reliance on traditional power sources and can provide a sustainable and cost-effective solution for powering a greenhouse.
Q: I paid for an appraisal and the home was valued at $25,000. The problem I have with this is my house is equipped with solar panels. I paid about $25000 for them. A comparable house sold for $225,000 4 months ago. Same amount of rooms, bathrooms, square feet, lot size and curb appeal (landscaping). But no solar panels. Home prices in my neighborhood have also gone up. I would like to know if there is any way I can dispute this as I feel I just wasted a lot of money on a incorrect appraisal.
Normally solar panels are listed as part of the house that supply heat, like a water heater or furnish. Your house would be appraised the same without the solar panel. Since the house you are references sold 4 months ago this might not be a comp your appraiser would have used. Normally a house would have to be sold within the past 90 days to be used by an appraiser. You are able to challenge the appraisal of the house you paid for. The appraiser would take a second look at the cops he/she used in coming up with the valuation of the property and see if here was something that was over looked. If you want to challenge the appraisal based on the fact that you have solar panels, it is doubtful there would be any changes. By adding the solar panels to your house might have been over built your house for the neighborhood. Look around your neighborhood to see how many other houses have solar panels. Normally in an area where houses are valued at around $200K or so would not normally be equipped with solar panels. This would not add value to your house as other houses in your neighborhood would still appraise for the same, since they would not have solar panels as the house you indicated in your statement did not have. I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck. FIGHT ON
Q: Dear Friends, I am very much worried about Global warming, So to contribute something for reducing Global Warming I have decided to use Solar Panels. Can anybody tell me what is the price of these Solar Panels and why people are not using them when they are environment friendly. What are the Pros and Cons of these Solar Panels?
In the US and western Europe, the average cost to install a solar system.....panels, wire, battery bank inverters and all of that is $5 ( five) US a watt. ( One panel, 2 x 3 feet putting out 75 Watts costs $700-800 US ) Mos American homes use about 000 kilo Watt hours of electricity a month.. oking, heating, cooling, refrigeration, water lights and all that. that is 2,000 kilowatts a year. A solar panel system would therefore cost $60,000 US to install. That is WAY beyond almost everyone's means, which is why the US and Europe is not covered in solar panels. There is also the amount of sunlight per day and the height of the sun in the sky. There is a formula to figure out how much usable sunlight a day you get; the further north the less......and that number averages out to about 5 hours a day year round. So back to the 000 kW a month.......30 + kWh a day.......in 5 hours a day you have to generate 6,000 watts .... divide by 75 watts a panel = 35 panels x 75.00 per = 25,000 $ US plus wiring, batteries and all that........
Q: Can solar panels be damaged by hail or other flying debris?
Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail or other flying debris. Hailstones, especially those larger in size, can potentially crack or shatter the glass surface of solar panels, impairing their function. Similarly, flying debris during storms or extreme weather conditions can also cause physical damage to solar panels, affecting their efficiency and performance. To mitigate these risks, solar panels are designed to withstand certain levels of impact, and some manufacturers even conduct rigorous testing to ensure their durability in harsh conditions.
Q: In nature, green leaves collect light and produce energy. Is this what they copied to make solar panels? If not how hard would it be to make artificial leaves that would power our homes?
Solar panels may have been inspired by leaves, by they don't function in the same way. Leaves use the sunlight to make carbon dioxide into carbohydrates. Solar-panels makes sunlight into electricity.
