- Q: I was wondering how much is it to get lifts on your car? Because i'm thinking of getting them once i have lilttle more money for a truck.
- You can lift it very cheaply by 2 for less than $100 but that is only to remove the rake in your truck which is the 2 difference between the front suspension and rear suspension. You can inexpensively raise the body higher from the frame for a few hundred dollars which is basically removing sections of the body and putting rubber bushings between the body and its resting place on the frame. For close to $1000 you can raise the suspension and thus the lowest points of the truck by 3'. Up to 3 will allow you to install some pretty beefy tires which can give you another up to 2 of clearance. To go higher then that would require something more than $1000.
- Q: I am still trying to find the best value in a car lift. My garage is crowed with three cars and a wood working shop. I want to put a car in the air so that I can get it out of the way and work on them easier. There are a lot of hobby lifts out there but some are not worth the effort. "Back Yard Buddy" seems to be the best but it is also expensive. Any Suggestions are highly being appreciated. Thanks
- www.okorder / I've had very good luck dealing with them.
- Q: Ok I have a 98 jeep wrangler that I want to lift 3 to 4 inches but my dad is worried about it gettin even more under powered than it already is. I want to know how significantly it wold really strees or strain the engine to put a lift kit on and how much more power I would lose doing it
- The lift will not hurt it at all. What will hurt the power is the tire size. You can run a 33 tire with a 4 lift, but you will want to install 4:54 or 4:88 gears in both axles to make up for the power loss.
- Q: The front wheels of a racing car are located far out in front to help keep the vehicle from nosing upward when it accelerateswhat physics concepts play a role here? Does it have to do with the center of gravity being in the back with the torque playing a role as well?Any advice would be appreciated.
- Rear-wheel drive is the preferred metheod of propelling a race car, especially in drag racing where the weight is transferred to the rear wheels. When your driving a front-wheel drive car into a turn while accellerating you're pulling the car intead of pushing the car. If you push a car around a corner as in rear-wheel drive, you have more control over the distribution of weight and the physical effects, such as inertia (trying to change direction of a body in motion). You are able to force the car instead of guiding it, enabling the driver to have more control than he really needs, by seperating the drive wheels from the wheels that steer the car. You make the front axle do a job and also the rear axle do a job. A front wheel drive is anemic like a paraplegic, where you limit function. As far as a front wheel drive car being used in racing, there are always going to be people who want to try something different, but so far with a car with four wheels, rear wheel drive is better for all types of racing.
- Q: im planning to by a 97 mazda and am 17 w/ a permit for $2200. I need some precationary tips and explanations so i dont get played like a fool here, so can you guys help me out? Like when you buy a used car, what are the main things you look for in the car? and, what are some steps you take? like would a carfax report be enough or does it have to be a mechanic? thanx
- Test drive, and or have amechanic inspect the car yo uwish to buy in order to detect any issues with it. Obtain a Bill of Sale from the seller. It is your recepit. Obtain the Title from the seller. Got to the DMV and pay registration and taxes. The DMV will take the old title from you and issue you a new one in your name. Wallah!
- Q: Hi, I am capible of driving a manual car, so would a fork lift truck be much harder? The ones were I work have 3 sticks and all that, Can someone explain to me how they work please? how to drive them etc, thanks, also 3 pedels? whats this for? break, accelerator (clutch? didnt think it had one?)
- No it's not too hard. Rear wheel steering is common, makes it a little quirky to get used to. Watch the front forks remember they stick out it is easy to catch something with them especially while backing and turning. Most common pedals on a forklift from to left to right 1 ParkingBrake -maybe a clutch 2 Brake 3Accelerator Thee levers on a forklift for fork control from left to right 1 Raise/lower forks 2 Tilt mast forward or back (tilting forks) 3 Either spreading forks wider apart or moving forks left and right without moving forklift. There is also a forward and reverse lever probably on the steering column (may look like a turn signal lever) Some forklifts have an accelerator pedal that rocks forward ro go forward and rocks back to go in reverse. Ask an operator what the controls do or see if the operators manual is on the forklift or in the office.
- Q: How do spoilers on sports cars help reduce lift?
- They produce downforce in the same way that 'plane wings produce lift - just in reverse. The shape of the spoiler causes the airflow to be faster on the top than on the bottom, thus causing downforce.
- Q: If i have two cars and i get a 6 suspension lift on one, and a 6 body lift on the other will they look the exact same. Because it looks like body lifts are higher. Oh and how much would a body lift cost, thanks.
- I used seafoam on a motorcycle that sat unused for a year or more. It wouldn't idle at all. But after two tanks of gas with the seafoam added the motorcyle idled as smooth as a swiss watch.well maybe not that smooth but as smooth as a motorcycle can run.
- Q: all around to get in and out easier. What should be done and is there any long term design effect that would hurt the car?
- If you're looking for a car you can get in and out of easier, I suggest you find one you're happy with, sell or trade your old car, and buy it. The minute you start modifying you change the center of gravity and the car is more prone to roll over. One answer is bigger tires, but then you have the problem of the speedometer and odometer being off. Engineers put a lot of time and effort into designing cars, and when we try to second guess them, sometimes the results are not good.
