- Q:My two kids have asthma and doctor says we have to vacuum everyday using a vacuum cleaner that has hepa filters. We are a busy couple and currently have an old dyson that we use once a week at the most (and I doubt it has hepa filtration). My wife's friend recommended getting a robot vacuum cleaner for the job. - A good friend of mine just did a fair bit of research on this. From what he found out, the Dyson's are WAY overpriced and no better than any other good quality vacuum. Never get a canister vacuum, the hair will get caught and affect the performance of the vacuum. As well, the vacuums where you pull the little R2-D2 unit behind you never have enough power. Get an upright, bag vacuum. Basically, do some looking around but the biggest thing is, don't just buy a name brand. Ask around.

- I do not own one but my aunt does. She loves it since she owns several cats. It picks up the surface dirt very well but she says after a few months she still must resort to heavy vacuuming. The battery needs to be charged periodically and it doesn't vacuum well at all when low.

- Q:i need it for picking up guinea pig droppings. i've built an indoor pen, with safe soil and grass i grew for them to run around in, just because theres dangerous things outside, plus if given the chance they would run away haha... thats how it is ( No matter how much you love them gt;lt;) but im worried, that all the handheld vacuum cleaners i can find claim to be strong, and able to pick up deep.. yaddayadda.. i need something pretty weak, because i dont want to uproot the grass/seeds. any advice?
- Whatever you buy, DON'T buy a dry dirt cordless dust buster - if you can, seek out a Wet and Dry model and the cheapest ones with 6V batteries or less will give you a weak suction. Not a lot of hand held cordless dust busters are really that strong - even Dyson ones run out of power after 5 mins! However, You may find that it won't even pick up - a slight downside. Dry dust hand helds are only for dry dust - the wet and dry option has a harder filter that can be used for picking up droppings, plus it's easier to clean out. ALSO, big tip from me - if you are worried about it picking up the grass/seeds, just cut up a pair of old tights and line the mouth of the dust buster into one of the open toe sections - the Lycra allows you to suck up what you want but you'll have to manually remove the droppings : (. It's a trick I learnt when watching a program about the Queen in London! Handy for earrings etc too!

- Q:I own a Dyson and although it is great for picking up pet hair, at almost every other level it is an appalling contraption, cannot overide rugs, will not pick up small bits preferring to push them around the room. The hose ,oh! that bloody hose arrangement, must have been designed to drive us bonkers and why do they have to have that horrendous appearance?
- Interesting I've been seeing the Dyson ads on t.v. a lot lately. I don't have either one, but have been wondering how the Dyson stacked up, against the Oreck. Either way, I'd need a lot of persuading to pay between $400 and 500 for any vacuum cleaner lol. For information, the happiest vacs I have ever had have always been the Eureka. I'm something of a vacuum nut, and have 9 different vacs of different sizes and types for different specific uses. But my vacuum for all seasons is my beloved 12 amp upright, wind- tunnel type Eureka - The Boss Your use of bloody makes me think you might be in UK, and this vac might not be available over there. I'm just mentioning it, though, in case I am wrong and you're in the States, because my Bossy aka the yellow peril is absolutely the best vac I've ever had. It goes quickly to the different levels between plain floor to high pile carpeting and its suction is very good, although its cannister does need to be emptied frequently. I paid slightly less than 80 bucks for it at WalMart LOL. Value for performance, Bossy has my vote over anything I ever owned, and I've owned plenty over time in my quest for the best sucker lol.-combined with ease of use and unbeatable price.
