- Q:hey guys/girls, i just bought a brand new black leather sofa, im a guy and im really really bad with design, just need a few tips on what would go well in the living room with the sofa.. im moving into my first apartment and it has white walls and white carpet. not much room but enough to put furniture...i just honestly need all the help i can get, what colors go well with black leather. what kind of furniture, coffee tables, as well as like what kind of artwork should i put up in my bachelor pad, things of that nature. its open ended really. just looking for some brainstorming. give me all the knowledge i need to go buy some furniture

- I think what you're looking for is a FUTON. With a futon sofa, the back of the sofa that you lean against while sitting folds down flat to make a bed. A sofa bed, on the other hand, looks like a regular sofa, but you remove the bottom seat cushions to pull the bed out, which folds out from under where you generally sit. A day bed, as someone suggested, is simply a twin bed that pushes up against the wall on the long side, with the headboard running the length of the bed (whereas, on a normal twin bed, the headboard is narrow, and sits at the head of the bed).

- It will almost certainly fit for a couple of reasons. A furniture manufacturer would soon find itself out of business if it made things that couldn't fit through a standard door, which yours is. Even though the numbers don't seem to add up and that it appears that the dimensions of the sofa are bigger than your door, all it takes is to bring the thing in at an angle and it will go in without a problem. In rare cases, the feet of the piece or a door may have to be removed from its' hinges, but those aren't hard to accomplish and will not slow the process down much. Delivery people with a little experience will know the tricks to make large objects fit into tight doorways without damaging anything. I've moved things up stairs and around seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a little finesse and forethought. Sometimes you have to tip a sofa up on end as well as on its' edge in order to get it through a particularly tight spot, but it is rare. I wouldn't worry as it sounds like your situation is a lot better than some, and the delivery guys will have no problem with it. You're right to be concerned, and it's probably a good idea to remove any possible obstacles prior to them showing up, like wall hangings, lamps, and anything they can trip over. Blankets to protect stair railings and floors isn't a bad thing to have on hand, too. A cup of coffee and a $10 - 20 tip isn't out of the question, either, if they do a good job without breaking anything and are courteous and careful. Not a requirement, but a really nice gesture because furniture delivery is a strenuous job under the best of circumstances. By the way, if I didn't mention it before, the sofa will fit through the door with no problem.

- For general cleaning you need to use a good quality water based foam leather cleaner. With light coloured leather dye transfer from clothing can be a problem although using a good quality leather protector will help inhibit this. DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or silicones.
- Q:Pottery Barn tells me that a sofa that they have with overall dimensions of 80w x 36d x 36h will not fit through my doorway. They say that the diagonal depth of the sofa is 32 and that's what determines whether or not it will fit. However, the sofa has removable back cushions and the actual back of the sofa is 29. - Having moved several sofas myself, it's very doable. Of course you can't just set the sofa flat and breeze it thru the doorway.Remove all cushions. Get a friend to help you. Tilt the sofa forward at an angle and see if it will fit in the doorway that way. You may need to remove the legs. My huge sofa was brought in by standing it on end, and moving the sofa back thru the doorway, then turning it slightly to get the seat portion in the door. Professional movers do this all the time.

- Q:ok I have one of those imitation micro fiber sofas, and I have a problem.. My hubby insist that it is ok for our 300 lb. English Mastiff to get up on the couch... it drived me insane but I try to ignore it... however now, there are 2 tears in the fabric.. they are L shaped, (almost like a box knife caused it) and are only about an inch in length.. the fabric still meets together if you know what I mean (there isn't a hole, only a tear). My husband won't listen and insists that it is not from the dog, but I do know better.... Anyhow my question is how do I try and repair this without it being too noticable... I dont want to sew it cause you can see it... I don't have any idea... My sofa is a dk.beige with a gray tint... Help Please !! Thanks... And please no rudeness about the dog.. - Flex-able fabric glue may work, and booties on the dog paws or a nice throw blanket. You could always make some kind of cover for the couch, pillows.
