- I would just call and ask them. It is very strange to have a credit only. Maybe they will take a cashier's check. Most places offer a discount when people are paying cash. What is DFS.. I am assuming it stand for Discount Furniture Store.

- Dogs don't generalize very well, so letting him up on one piece of furniture will not make him think he can get up on all furniture. Don't worry about people telling you to keep him on the floor or he will think he's alpha......that's nonsense. My dogs all get on the furniture, they are allowed, unless humans need the space,then they get off.

- Oh absolutely--and usually they will--but you can keep the whole situation simple by calling Salvation Army and asking them to pick it up for you, to resell at their store. Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity are two other options. That way it won't end up in a landfill. Charities pick up for free.

- I don't know any home remedies but I can tell you I found a kit in the automotive dept. at Wal Mart for removing ink from leather. I'm sure it would work for a sofa. My 3 yr old drew with a pen all over the cream leather seats. After using it, the marks didn't disappear at first but after using it a few times they eventually faded away with no damage at all to the leather. This is probably the safest way to do it. Maybe not the fastest but you won't ruin your sofa either.

- It will certainly be more comfortable than the traditional sleeper sofa mattresses. That is, if the foam is thick enough. It really depends a lot on the construction of the frame underneath, too because that is really what you feel with a traditional mattress.

- Put two high-backed chairs a few feet from the sofa and then put a sheet over the the top. You can use the cushions from the sofa in the open areas to make doors/gates where the sheet opens up. Bonus: If you take a broom and tuck it in between the couch cushions, you can tie the sheet to it and make a pirate ship. It's easy to make pirate hats out of newspaper. That way you can escape when someone invades your fort.

- Q: I have 2 small children and 2 cats. The cats (whom I have not declawed because they are indoor/outdoor), have tore up each corner of both my sofa loveseat while using them as a scratching post. There have also been a few accidents while changing my baby's diapers on the sofa. So I pan to get them cleaned and then slipcover them both. But there are a few styles of clipcovers ~ snug/hug fit, relaxed fit that hangs, and then a combo of both. I have noticed that the combo fit (the latest style) is most attractive. The problem here is that the snug area of this cover is on the exact spots that my cats used to scratch. I am thinking that they will be able to get their claws into this as well. And if they can, they will as they have done the same to every corner of every mattress in the house. So lets say I go for the relaxed fit, is there any suggestions of what I should look for? Any problems with certain ones? Am I wrong about the snug fit being a continual issue with the cats? Thanx!
- I like the stretch kind. They fit so much better. The cats are another problem. We just lost our 23 year old last month. You will have to retrain them. I used clear packing tape on the corners. She didn't like the feel. Matter of fact she found another piece to scratch. More tape. Good luck!

- I think you could warm it up by using an orange or red colour. When I say orange, I mean a copper or burnished orange (pumpkin spice or even terra cotta) - nothing like those bright orange garbage bags! A soft green (like a moss or lichen colour) would also look nice. Blues would make the room look cool and yellows - well it might be over kill. I would go to the renovation store (home depot, home hardware, Rona...) and pick colours that you like. You could even do just an accent wall with a dark red or orange, behind the couch, and then find a complimentary colour to paint the remaining walls. That is what I did - a deep merlot (red wine) colour with an off white that has a pinky undertone. I never thought I would use PINK on my walls but it compliments well and is very soothing and warm. Go figure! Anyway, go and experiment! Have fun with it! Bring deep luxurious colours into your home! It'll help tone down the sofa if that is your goal!
