- Standard' height for a vanity cabinet is 30' plus the thickness of the top - If you're using cultured marble, that will be about 7/8' Granite is available in 2cm or 3cm thicknesses. Standard depth is 21 inches, as opposed to 24 inches for kitchen cabinetry. I have a lot of customers that prefer a taller vanity, so we manufacture alot of them at a 35 1/4 inch height now as well. This brings them to 36' with the top in place.

- I re-model for a living an I wouldn't attempt it. FRANKFUSS is right. You will loose structural integrity and no matter how good you are with a saw...it won't look perfect and that IS the goal isn't it?
- Q: I am trying to remove a 'generic' type of dual sink vanity installed when the home was built. I see no screws securing it to the wall. Could it just be sitting there, caulked in place? I was hoping to keep it intact to use as a workbench, but if I have to start breaking it up, that's okay too :)
- the vanity is definitely screwed in. the base of the vanity gets screwed to the wall before the top is installed. then the top gets caulked on. if you use a utility knife to cut the caulk and remove the counter top then you will see the screws in the back of the vanity at the very top.
- Q: I bought a vanity made by American Standard. It has a wood-like paper applied on it, with some material (glaze or varnish etc). Can I use such paper material on the kitchen cabinets? Does it last? Where do they sell wood paper? The stain seems to be fully absorbed by the wood so it is not coming off. I dont like to paint the cabinets. However, this wood paper gives some shade/grain-like look to the bathroom vanity. I want the kitchen cabinets to look similar.
- if the sides of the cabinets are melamine then no you cannot buy that paper and apply it yourself. it is done in the manufacturing process and applied to cheaper substrates to give the look of real wood sorry, more affordable substrates is what I meant it can be bought as full sheet like plywood is available but may be too thick to apply to the side of a cabinet without the raw edges being exposed I suppose you could look for a wood grain wallpaper, someone somewhere probably makes it, but I am not sure if that would hold up well on cabinets especially when steam is coming up from a pot on the stove
